Tis what they are called, yet not what they do. Go figure that one out.

This is the kind of pointless but affordable crap I usually go for. Do you have Amazon TV, can you control that?

No, don't know if it does that. It can control Kodi.

@luvgonzo how's the Echo Dot going? I'm thinking of getting the Mrs to get me one for Xmas, can't think of anything else I really want!

I like it but it needs more useful apps.

I'll give you an example of what I use it for on a day to day basis.

    I'll ask the weather forecast.
On the weekend I'll play 5 live through it for the footy. (TuneIn Radio account)
I check if my train is on time. (National Rail app)
    I'll get a news report.
    I'll check footy fixtures.
    Play music (Spotify premium)
    Check my calendar (Google Calendar)
Use it as a timer if I'm cooking.
Use it as an alarm clock.

These are things I would usually use a tablet or phone to do.

There are loads of silly things it does but they get old quick.

The only silly one that's good is Meanie, when you activate that it'll start insulting you and it's quite harsh, when you tell it to stop it answers "**** off then!"

It should get better with time, I have a Bluetooth speaker so didn't need the big one and £50 is OK. It links to any Bluetooth device.
