We have had a long(ish) tradition of signing aging strikers going back to Frank Worthington and Joe Baker right up to Defoe. Very few of them have been any sort of success. Recently we have had----- Dwight Yorke, he moved to midfield and did well. Andrew Cole didn't move at all. I'm sure that better memories than mine can come up with other names. Good strikers are THE most valuable of assets. Trying to get one on the cheap is a laudable ambition but not very realistic.
He isn't but he's better than Anichebe. Someone to hold the ball up and play in some of our quicker players and grab a few goals I would have thought. He's a good passer.
His first touch is the best I've ever seen, and I've seen all sorts at Old Trafford. He's effortless at times and has the techinique only a select few can pull off. That sort of player can win games, but it's not the player you get every game, most of the time you get somebody who can't be bothered, or he'll get frustrated that those around him aren't on his level and start spitting his dummy out, then he becomes nothing more than a passenger.
See Swansea are in for him, he could do well for them if this happens, I would have Ki back atm, very similar player to Kirchoff but not as injury prone.
I just think we're really short of quality and that's what Berba has, if he looks like he can't be arsed then don't play him but if he is somehow up for it then he could be very useful. Surely even on a bad day he could fulfill the role of stand still up front and we'll boot it up to you, which we're currently doing but not actually to anyone. We need a lot of things but one of them is someone upfront who the ball will stick to and who can pick out a pass to the likes of Watmore, Khazri and Defoe. He could link up with Defoe quite nicely actually. But yeah personality wise he's not someone for a relegation battle. We're desperate enough for it to be worth a punt though I'd say.
Not sure as I rate him like a Torre Andre Flo- score goals but .... Though if Swansea are interested in him I'd get him as we all know he'd keep them up He could be a goalscoring foil for Defoe.
Suppose taking him on trial over the international break would be a good shout. See whether he'd bring anything positive to our predicament.
