Just got back, it would have been a complete travesty if we hadn't won tonight. Fantastic 2nd half performance. The referee was abysmal and Inter Milan were just complete ****s. Virgil seemed to play every position at different points during the match. I hate to say this but IMO Jay Rod is done at Saints. The injury has ruined his main asset sadly and he isn't technically gifted enough to cope without it. On the plus side, we have a fully rested Boufal to face Hull on Sunday.

I really feel for him. Think a new striker will come in January.

The ref literally got all the 4 big calls wrong tonight....
Inter Goal - Should have been disallowed for foul on Van Dijk.
Saints Penalty - Ball to hand, so been given but not a pen for me.
Candreva Yellow - Blatant elbow to McQueen's face, should have been Red.
Rannochi fouling Van Dijk on every corner - The one in the second half at least should have been given.

That's only a 6.25% chance he'd get them all wrong if he had no further insight above the level required for a monkey to throw darts at a board/flip a coin.
Admittedly, the second and fourth of those he may not have had a perfect view of so his decision may be closer to 50/50, but the Inter Goal and Candreva Yellow decisions were quite frankly horrible. Just glad it didn't cost us on the night.

Who reckons Boufal will start Sunday now?

We were sat in Kingsland and for their goal Van Dijk got himself the wrong side and was definitely not fouled. He hardly complained.

 

We need to cherish every second we have with Virgil!

And refs should really start booking players early on for time wasting, that would stop it straight away. (even when we do it!) Inter were terrible at it all game

 

If you look carefully, you'll see that I said that Clattenburg is only half as bad.

 

Just seen the all too brief highlights on ITV, and VVD does look to be fouled after the ball has gone, and was also rugby tackled in their penalty area later on.

 

Yes, Virgil was grabbed and brought down, so would have been a second pen if seen.

 

I thought it was a foul, one of their clever ones. I think they must be the sneakiest team in Europe. Bring shame to that once great badge.

 

Can you imagine one of our players roughing up the penalty spot....wouldn't even occur to them. Shameful, cynical behaviour.
