Yes, well considering most of them probably weren't even alive when Bill Nick was manager, they don't know any better.

I disagree entirely with you theories. He's an excellent coach and manager doing what he can with the resources he has. No, he's not perfect, or we wouldn't have bought Sissoko, but he's got the best out of what he has.

As to Gazza. Who could completely manage him, he was a force of nature. One of the few English players who could truly be termed 'world class' The others, no problem!...

I was interested to know why Pochettino is talked up as being your best manager since Nicholsen and why your fans don't talk about his failed signings. He is a good manager but he is lucky to have Inherited players. If he can sign a great attacking player then maybe he can have a success and turn all these draws into wins.

He can work with a certain type of player, working with the resources a manager has is fine when the players fit into his system, such as young players. If he walked into a club with established players, big names, pressure for instant success (like at Utd) are you saying he has proved he can manage at that level?

No idea why anyone would view him as better than Burkinshaw. Venables did a better imo cos of our then financial problems. I think he is on is on a par with Jol (who took us from being a joke of a club to top 4 contenders) and Redknapp. He needs to win several trophies to be mentioned in the same breathe as as Burkinshaw and Venables imo.
He has been good for us and will hopefully fulfill his potential with us.

    No.

If he's never managed at that level, how could he? I should have thought that was blindingly obvious!...

All great managers start somewhere and work up. If and until he gets a chance to manage world class talent, who's to say he can or can't handle it?

Maureen doesn't seem to be doing too great with his multi hundred million pound squad!..

Many do believe that. It may be blindingly obvious to you and me however there are fans who believe Pochettino is a legend in the making, future Real Madrid/Barca manager.

Maybe he will, but that's another matter.

You asked if he'd ever proved himself at the highest level. My answer was that as he's never had the opportunity to, how could he?...

Because many fans believe Pochettino has proved he can manage at any level based on the success so far in his career. I was wondering if you shared that opinion, but I can see that you don't.

There really is only one way you can prove that you can manage at the highest level. That, obviously, is to be given the chance to do so.

  10. Don't know this Singapore Sling character, but he comes across as a bit simple and lacking in football knowledge.

Is he a double-account character created by Pixie? He has that simpleton feel about him, like Pixie.

    Not wumming, just interested.

Agreed, he's their best manager for years unfortunately he's out of his depth at the top end of the premiership and in Europe. No plan B (like AVB) but I feel sorry for him because he has found his way into a club where failure is glorified. The astounding lack of ambition is due to the two shysters running the club as a cash cow.

I think it's a nailed on certainty that united will come for him and he won't think twice and Danny boy will be rubbing his hands with joy.

  12. I think the best that us reasonable fans can hope is that Chelsea crash and burn, like they did last season, so that fair-weather Chavs like Skiddy, Gary The Glitter Fan and Robbie can fcuk off back into the wilderness and leave this forum to get back to the top-grade discussions we had before CFC started to win games, again.

Alternatively you could say that last years high was as a direct result of Chelsea, United & £ity imploding without this Spurs would have finished 6th at best.

    I agree.

I think those who say he's out of his depth, or that he wouldn't make it at the top level, underestimate him.

He's done, and is doing his best to manage the resources he's got. Given the budget of a club like Utd, City, or Chelsea, he'd be right up there. I've little doubt about it.
