I know I just saw the photo in the .HDM and assumed it was going to be near the Humber Bridge. Forgot about the local rag's general ineptitude.

To be fair, though it's at the Marina, I think the most of the actual display will take place over the Humber.

    I hope not
They ought to be really low and concentrated in a very small area so that only those of us with tickets can see them ;)

I assume he meant Humber St Market which, to be fair, is only about 50 foot from Marina

Apparently the button was difficult to find
But once in you could get plenty by logging in as different people
    I'll be running a bus if you're struggling for a lift! ;)

Viewing area (the ticketed one at any rate) is Hull Marina.

Though there will be other places they are perfectly visible from of course (albeit without the rest of the bells and whistles).

Unless they have a City scarf on. Then they will be applying for banning orders from the KC.

They haven't turned down IKEA in Hull, they've rejected an application for an additional out of town shopping centre at Kingswood, because it's believed that out of town shopping centres are damaging the viability of retail space in the city centre. There was also no deal done with IKEA, they were just talking to them, they're not even mentioned in the original planning application (and they'll apply again anyway).

Aaaah ok... though in fairness... Ikea only operates out of out of town retail developments

It's not actually a full IKEA store (Hull's not deemed big enough), it's a small 'click and collect' store, which they're opening in city centres, as well as out of town sites.

Would a fair bit of the space in Princes quay have been good enough for that ???

I think access would be an issue, people are obviously arriving all the time to collect the stuff they've ordered, though they've got one in the Westfield Centre at Stratford, so they maybe would look at shopping centres if they're easy enough to access (though you don't have to pay to get in and out of the Westfield car park).

I do love the way this story comes up without fail, every year... If they opened in Hull it would go against their entire location policy of having stores within easy reach of multiple big population areas while they already have a store located an hour a way (10 mins from my house).

    Plus, it's really, really ****.

The stores are ****ing horrible, I've only been in twice (the Leeds one) and found it genuinely unnerving how you have to follow the whole shop round like a white mouse in a laboratory maze. Freaky.

That said though, as a record collector I'd be a bit knackered without IKEA, so...
