Random question, but is there someone on this forum called Ian Thumwood? Does he still post? I was reading an amazon review from 2012 of an item I was about to buy, and it made reference to Saints. And I looked at the name, and Ian Thumwood rang enormous bells, and recognised it from here.

He still posts on here occasionally. If the review on Amazon lasted half an hour it's the same one.

I'm a bit like you...lapsed COE, but some cathedrals just make my spirits soar. Not so much foreign Catholic ones as they are often so ornate they weigh me down....although they can be beautiful as works of art. Love a good cathedral, me. :) However, English churches and cathedrals soar to the heavens and lift me up with them.

I really hope the Scottish and English FA`s stick it to FIFA and wear the poppy. Sod the consequences. Corrupt loonies taking over the asylum. I don`t get angry much, but this really pisses me off.

Looks like they are going to wear armbands and defy FIFA. Good on them.

I actually think the FA are making too much of this, or at least making themselves a difficult situation.

Yes, I wear a poppy and want to see the players do the same, however FIFA have a problem if they allow it. It may not be a political emblem to us, as it is an emblem of rememberance to those that died in conflict or war. Conflict is a "political" issue and thus it could offend others.

It is good the FA want to show their respect, so why don't they do it that morning at the hotel on camera, or have the players get off the coach at the ground and have a minute silence then too?

FiFA are supposed to represent the world, which. make's this tricky for them.

I happen to agree, though the fact they allowed Ireland to wear something for the centenery of the Easter Rising means FIFA have made it harder for themselves too.

Absolutely. I heard that earlier and think FIFA missed out there. They should have stopped that according to their rules.

This kind of thing really makes you wonder about the idiots who work at FIFA. The blanket ban on all political images is sound (and the FA should get over it), but if they've already bent for one country, they've opened the floodgates.

    My thoughts exactly.

It's almost as if they have complete clowns running the place...
