Stoke's recent double win in qualifying over Hadjuk Split means the impossible has happened....Dean Whitehead is playing in Europe. Needed mentioning again.
Whitehead, Collins, Higginbottom and Tommy were all decent players and not amongst the worst to play for us. Unfortunately, they came to the club at a time when we reached our lowest ebbs. Whitehead in particular was a decent player IMO. Box to box and full of graft, if he had played in a better team he would have put 300+ games in for us IMO and been here a lot longer. Players like Lawrence (who has moved on again of course) pissed me off much more. Average footballer who swanned around as if he was David Beckham but with absolutely none of the ability and certainly none of the class. KJ was a talented player who couldn't care less either way and a waste of that talent. There will be a few ex-Sunderland lads making European debuts this season. Good luck to them.
Nah, he'll will fit right in to European football, calm and composed, his sublime tackling and cultured right foot capable of hitting a 40 yard pin point accurate pass as easily as a little 3 yard give and go. Hang on...........................Whitehead? Dean Whitehead? Sorry thought you were talking about someone else. Nah he'll be as ****e in Europe as he is in the Premier. Good luck to him though, they've earn't the right to play in the competition. BTW Shouldn't Stoke Rugby club be playing in the Heineken sponsored competition rather than the Europa one?
we have to terget europe next year and the way we can get there is through the cups. other so called lesser clubs have achieved this so why cant we ?
