I know 2 people that have sent them back as the UK version doesn't support most of the USA apps.

Don't buy yet. Loads of potential though.

Not keen on the name though, hopefully you can change the name. I'd call mine 'bitch'.

I recently bought a Zgemma H2S box. It works a treat here. It also has Kod direct, TS media, and some others loaded on it.

Gets the picture and sound from your sat dish, uses the internet to decode the encrypted channels. The one I bought has a 500gb hard disk. So you have an interface pretty much like a Sky+ box. Including record/series link/ pause/rew/FF etc.

Very little buffering or freezing. Watched City vs Barca last night with virtually no problems at all.

The Amazon echo sounds promising, but I'll wait for a few more reviews first.

A few more? On Amazon 1,453 people have already reviewed it <laugh>

    Waiting for 1,500?

I guess I'm waiting for somebody I know to give me a rundown on if it's worth it or not.

I don't trust internet reviews. Most of them are bought and paid for.,...

True on most products but these are customer reviews by the bucket load...

It's probably the most anticipated new tech for a while so plenty of people jumped on it early.

I tried making my own with a Raspberry Pi. Supposedly can be done but I couldn't get the Alexa software to recognise the voice in.

    It looks absolutely bollocks.

"Alexa, please can you wipe my arse for me because I am entirely reliant on technology doing everything for myself".

I mean, who is actually spending £150 on them? Oh great, you can ask a robot to play a song for you... Put it on yourself you lazy bastards.

Actually, it was $30 since I built my own and when it failed I reused the Raspberry Pi as a weather/alarm clock.

I went for the Echo Dot as it's only £50, I have a good stereo so don't need the speaker part. I think it looks really good and it supports a lot of the apps I use.
    What's this Jungle crap? <laugh>

Doesn't the Dot require an echo to work? I thought the Dot was like an extension to the echo.

No. The dot just connects to any other speaker, or can be used alone for an alarm or audio books etc.

The dot is a much better option tbh, and much cheaper.

No, but you can write music on paper and play it in your head.
