I'm not sure but Tariq Panja is a good journalist and doesn't tend to write this stuff willy nilly. Likewise, Martyn Ziegler wouldn't be pushing it either. Not sure we've ever had a period of exclusivity reported as fact in previous takeover tales - so that's interesting.
Also the Saints spokesman saying he hasn't heard anything rather then just a plain no is pretty telling.
£200m seems very low to me given you could just sell all the parts individually for far far greater, and then there's TV earnings on top.
On the plus side, we would probably have a crap ton more money. On the minus side, that money will probably be spent on overpriced, over-the-hill players with big name recognition.
You could sell all the players for more than that, and that's before the ground/training ground and land are taken into consideration. I'm not suggesting we would be asset stripped, just that if someone wished to they could sell all the parts for way way more than a £200m investment.
Just a guess really, but maybe because we are a well run club and a lot of people are happy with the current situation? And it's probably easier to trust Swiss rather than Chinese investors to at least be able to point to Southampton on a map.
Kat was never going to stay forever. Long as she puts us in good hands I say thank you and let her move on.
