Yes. It was just a joke. Definitions vary slightly but the OPTA one is - Shot on target Any goal attempt that: a) Goes into the net b) Would have gone into the net but for being stopped by a goalkeeper's save c) Would have gone into the net but for being stopped by a defender who is the last man. Shot off target Any goal attempt where the ball is going wide of the target, misses the goal or hits the woodwork.
"They had no shots on target so how big a threat was Amrabat?" Clucas didn't manage to tackle him once and he must have had a dozen crosses. That Watford were too inept to capitalise on his dominance does not mean he wasn't a threat.
So, if it hits the post or crossbar and bounces out it was off target but if it hits the post or crossbsr and goes in it must be deemed on target as a goal has been scored? Not exactly clear is it?
How Mike Phelan has been left feeling rather alone at Hull City... http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/mike...9859252-detail/story.html#pUQOuijXJVtGH5qH.99
I really feel for MP, to have all this going on whilst trying to sort the playing side out is not on and the Allams should be ashamed of themselves. Lets hope Neil McDonalds involvement with the players can at least bring a freshness to the training.
I didn't even realise how many coaching staff had left as well , maybe we don't do strength and conditioning now
Maybe begs the question, how many of our own supporters realise what an absolute mess the club is in (never mind expecting supporters of other clubs to know and understand)?!
He took off Keane to shore up midfield...could he not have had Meyler doubling up on Amrabat without really weakening an area of the pitch ?
So he doesn't need any backroom staff then to assist him get the best tactics, team selection, substitutions? Come to think of it, he could drive the team bus as well.
As ehab was already paying for Clemence etc to be a part of the club i doubt he just said im not replacing them. It was obvious they were going to go. They were Bruces staff, they like Bruce and he looks after them. Phelan must have known this would happen. Why wasnt he proactive and bringing in his own staff? Not everythings the Allams fault. He brought in Mcdonald hasnt he. That wasnt stopped was it? Has he got any standing in the game Phelan? Had, in a way, an easy life at Man U. does he have contacts in the game? Has he ever needed to forge any? Why did Norwich not fancy him as their manager? He was the only mug willing to take it mind.
With your last sentence I think you finally touch on most likely the biggest part of the problem. I highly doubt it's Phelan dragging his heels. Combination of Ehab handling the contracts & related, plus potential incumbents not wanting to come to the circus.
During his after match interview on Saturday Burnsie asked him about further additions to backroom staff and Phelan indicated he was on with it .. now whether that is down to Phelan deciding who he wants and who's willing to come or who Ehab is prepared to employ remains to be seen
The players he's got to select from isn't down to him. I think that's something that people really seem to be underestimating because we got a few last minute transfers in. Our squad is the worst in the Premier League.
I think most experienced premier league managers would struggle in this situation , never mind Mike Phelan
