It never ceases to amaze me that our players have had such an impact when joining some other clubs. They seem to have the ability to improve the performance of their new team's existing players. Just look at the impact Lallana, Lovren, Mane and Clyne have had on Liverpool. Suddenly this northern club that was on the decline and becoming also rans in the Premier league are lifted by the injection of some of the Spirit of Southampton. Our ex players have had the ability to raise the performance of what was a very poor squad and to bring about a transformation in what was a mediocre side. Clearly the management at Liverpool recognise how very important our players are to their success that they are rumoured to be coming back for more. Just how good a manager would Klopp be considered if it wasn't for our ex-players? It must be a hard fact for Liverpool fans to swallow that as a club they are incapable of producing good young talent in the numbers needed in the modern game.
I laughed when I saw the Suns Sam McQueen link, but the L'Pool fans are talking about it like its a serious optio! Everything that glitters in Southampton is clearly gold.
What prompted my thread was to see a blog where they said he wasn't good enough but Klopp might be able to work his magic on him. An arrogant load of bullshit.
Glad Pep's looking back on form, L'Pool must not win, I just couldn't bare that. We would never hear the end of it. shudder
From another disreputable source today:- "Liverpool are interested in Saints centre-back Virgil Van Dijk, according to, er, Micky Quinn. Yes, Micky Quinn says Liverpool are going to buy Van Dijk. You might want to pick up a fistful of salt for this one, never mind a pinch. “I believe they’re interested in Van Dijk, when the transfer window opens up,” Quinn revealed. “They love a Southampton player, they’ll probably go back again.” Not that Liverpool fans would be complaining if Jurgen Klopp decided to move for Van Dijk. The Dutchman has been one of the most consistent defenders in the Premier League since signing for the Saints in the summer of 2015 from Celtic."
I hope it is making Les think about a serious contract for Sam.....whether he leaves or not, a longer contract makes sense. This has all started because McQueen said he had been unhappy about his progress at Saints until recently....though he did qualify that by saying he needed to be patient.
and his agent is pushing for a new deal for the lad. PS I thought you had resolved not to reply to my threads. How will I achieve my objective of posting a thread that nobody has ever read?
You might get a thread without replies, but you won't get a thread nobody reads.....we are moths to a flame.
Klopp would be a very good manager without any Saints players. Brendan Rodgers would be a crap manager with an entire team of Saints players.
So sign Virgil up to a 10 year contract and put in a buy out clause of £60 million!! Then we shall see who is interested in buying the best defender in the PL.
