According to Carra .... http://www.90min.com/posts/4040690-...medium=fan_pages&utm_source=facebook.com.html
We would walk the bloody thing people keep saying Whatmore should do ok in the championship they seem to forget we still have Defoe who would be in his element against crap defenses.
I am an enemy of all pundits, but especially of those who sit in judgement of other players by using electronics and have the benefit of an overview of a battleground before moving players around to suit what they shudda/cudda/wudda done to prevent the goal. In this case he is right about Kone's non-urgency but it should be left at that. Very easy to be judge and jury after you have studied the situation half a dozen times then found the solution. But then maybe he was rubbing it in to a Liverpool rival manager.
To be fair to the bloke it is his job. It's good to have a pro's view of things I think as they notice things us mere mortals may miss from time to time.
After 10 games it's a tad early to get into hypotheticals but here we go... Massively depends on how good your youth prospects actually are. If you went down I can't see Kone, Khazri or Lens staying. Not convinced your first team would be "walk the league" strength but would be surprised if you weren't in the mix. Main issue is up front, Defoe is 34 now and would be 35 next season. The games come thick and fast in the Championship so even if he stayed you simply couldn't play him over and over and expect him to fire you out of the division. Your squad isn't the biggest. It would hugely rely on some of those young prospects showing what they are truly made of.
I think we'll be ****ed. Lack leaders and a spine at any level and you're struggling. Going down will solve nothing and the same problems will remain. What we need won't fall out of the sky it needs investment. We go down, we still need to invest in said spine and leaders, they still cost. other championship clubs are out spending us trying to get promotion. There's nowt to convince me it will be anything other than same **** different league.
That's really a matter of perspective. They ALL spend fortunes nowadays the real criteria should be a team that is trying its best and a manager who seems to know what he's doing.
People like Rodwell Gooch and Watmore would look like world beaters in that league and Billy Jones would look like Cafu. It's ****ing rancid. Just look at Glenn Murray scoring a hat trick against Norwich at the weekend and Daryl Murphy being a 15-20 goal striker year on year. The standard is a million miles off the Premier league. That's why Hull and Norwich swap places every year
Joey Barton got voted the best player in the Championship last season and the year before that it was Patrick Bamford when he was at loan at Boro. Says it all to me.
hmmm, plenty of your squad would probably wanted to leave - Kone, Kirchoff, Khazri, etc, I doubt Defoe would drop down, he'd probably go to MLS or China and finish off his career on a huge salary. and Pickford would be snapped up by a Prem team. We built a good squad quickly cos we got a fortune for Sissoko, Winjaldum, Townsend, etc, you'd have the PP, but the other thread shows you're plenty useless with negotiation big transfers fees for your players, and the value of the likes of Kone must be plummeting by the week. The likes of Cattermole, Rodwelll, Van Arnholt, Watmore etc would definitely be decent players in the championship, but you'd need to strip away the arrogant twats who don't wanna be there, and major squad investment would be needed, particularly up front. The standard in the champ is definitely much lower than premiership standard, but then so is you're team atm...strip out the dross, maintain the fighters and buy the right players and you'd be one of the better teams in the champ.
