Net spend is about £50m over the last couple of seasons and the club effectively had about £80m in the bank at the start of that period of spending, stockpiled over the previous few seasons where we spent very little. It was a net spend of £73.1 million last season, which came from cash reserves of £48.3 million and an operating profit for the year of £32.4 million. The cash reserves had built up over a period of roughly 5 years from trading profits on football transfers, combined with operating profits each year. In effect, we did not go a single penny into debt by making the large spend of the previous summer. Everything came from cash reserves and operating profit. Just a point of interest......... We are now in the 10th season of football since Mike Ashley bought our club. In that period, over ten seasons, Newcastle United have a total net spend of £22.7 million, an average of £2.27 million spend per season. During six of those seasons the club made an operating profit, and these profits have risen year on year, more than offsetting the small net spend. Everything we have spent has come from within the club (since Ashley's initial cash injection to pay off the pre-existing debt). During those same ten seasons, Sunderland have a net transfer spend of £137.93 million, or £13,793,000 per season net spend. This has combined with an operating loss every single one of those years. What the **** are you doing? This is Fredor, he doesn't want actual stats and facts any more than he wants a rational debate. Sorry for him Fredor you are correct. We spend £130m every season and still fail whilst honest Sunderland get by breaking even each year. The FA should investigate the situation.
If I was the suspicious type of person living in the real world I would be asking why they have not, as I always do, point to some official confirmation of these numbers
You spent 80 million last season, and I believe that the players will be paid a wage and even if RAFA is working for free there is more than the cost of your ticket going out each week
There is obviously no need for multi millionaires to be running these clubs, on these figures any businessman in city could do it , I have a feeling after these revelations there are going to be some massive changes
I get it now Sunderland are spending SIX times as much as Newcastle each season on transfer fees , I can only assume that Sunderland are then taking those players they have bought and are hiding them somewhere
