Sorry Dexter, missed your 'Good Morning', so a belated 'Good Morning' to you! Super race, gave my comments on it already to Cyc on the VBS thread. Will just add that winner did his family proud, especially sire Monsun (who died in 2012), and dam Anatola. Here's brief outline of winner's pedigree, for anyone who's interested: Sire: Monsun(GER) Grandsire:Königsstuhl (Tamerlane/Persian Gulf/Bahram lineage) Dam:Anatola(GER) Damsire:Tiger Hill (IRE) Just noticed that the sire of the second home, Heartbreak City, was Lando (GER)! Not a bad day at the office for German equine dads? Even managed to get back to sleep after race!
Morning, team. Cor blimey some of you have been getting a bit excited about events ‘Down Under’ haven’t you! Calm down, dears. Must say re yesterday’s pile up at Kempton top marks must be given to the Racecourse Executive who said ‘OK, no more today’, after this, and abandoned affairs. Class with a capital ‘C’. As we all know from a few terms ago one racecourse who would never have done this, in a million years, would have been Cheltenham. Top marks, Kempton Park. Nothing for me today and must actually say that the usually decent ‘Haldon Gold Cup’ day card down in God’s own county looks unusually unimpressive today. Better luck next year, Exeter, me hopes. Good luck ,crew.
QUINTUS CERIALIS 7.40 Kempton 33/1 Won over course and distance 11 months ago off a mark of 67 by eleven lengths when leading all the way. Hiked in the weights for that but has been steadily coming down to now be at 68. Has been held up in most of his runs which I dont think would really suit but this evening off this mark I expect Timmy Murphy to ride the horse from the front and outrun his tasty price. He has moved from Clive Cox to Karen George two runs ago but she is more than capable of getting one ready and I have a feeling they will be trying to land a little touch. I do agree with Barney that the right thing was done yesterday at Kempton. Frustrating for me as I was sitting on a 3/1 ticket about a 5/4 chance that was due off in the next race but still the correct decision was made. Get well soon brave boys! PS; I think Garde will hose up in the Haldon!
Firstly, well in Swanny, great call on the big race Down Under. Thowing my dart at one in the 1.50 at Exeter, hoping that Flighty Filia can transfer some flat form to the first time over hurdles and help me return to a more customary betting habit after going completely crazy over the past weeks. Might also have a go with Breanski in the 1.10 at Redcar, in the hope that Gosden is not actually sending a couple of hot one's up North. My other pick, Barney Dwan is a bally bleedin' NR, I say, NR, blimey!! Good Luck all. ( 4 miles by the Mersey for me, I think, prior to some delicious leftover roast chicken sandwiches, with stuffing of course )
Don't get me wrong, Dexter, as I can't tell pace in a horserace by looking at it to save my life, but I think this one was a solidly-run 2-mile race. In fact, the SL described it as being run at a "furious tempo".
Little e/w Canadian today after yesterday's Heinz had 3 places and a non runner. 12:40 Redcar Isabella 3.40 Redcar Perennial 4.10 Redcar Aditor 7.40 Kempton Qortaaj 8.10 Kempton Newtown Cross
Beef stew and dumplings. 9/10. Cor bally blinkin’ blimey I see they race at Newbury, over the sticks, on Thursday. A bit early, ain’t it?!? Can anyone else remember Newbury, racing in the NH sphere, this early in the old campaign??? Some very, very nice types entered though, pilgrims.
Earlier actually..the Horris Hill meeting used to have a mixed card,a juvenile hurdle and h'cap 'chase..good fixture it was too.
If a lot of the entries stand their ground Thursday could potentially be very good indeed. Amazing really seeing as the prizepot contains a relative pittance.
A lot of handlers keen on getting a run into their charges most likely...if it doesn't rain though the fields will be decimated.
Well, the run by the river was excellent and the sandwich delicious, I'll not comment on my selections ...
I just read about that- using racial language to describe his horses win? What did he say or is it simply not worth repeating? What a numpty.
If you're after that bottle of plonk from Bob, surely a run down to your local 'Threshers' would have been quicker than typing out that essay old boy?!
