03/06/2016 : Confirmation of appointment, Steve Clark to be assistant manager, although that is not mentioned here : AVFC - Roberto Di Matteo named as new Villa manager Welcome to the new management team, let this be the start of a great revival. Wiki - Roberto Di Matteo Wiki - Stephen "Steve" Clarke
06/06/2016 : Official confirmation of the backroom appointments, being Steve Clarke, Kevin Bond, Massimo Battara and Massimiliano Marchesi, respectively as Assistant Manager, first team coach, goalkeeping coach and fitness coach. Steve Clarke to assist Roberto Di Matteo. AVFC - New Villa backroom team announced
It's Larry yay - a familiar face in an unfamiliar landscape! Happy with Di Matteo? Happy with your new owner - and his comments?
Oh well. Next please - anyone you would prefer Larry or just of case of "see who we get and get behind him"
Posted by me on AVillaFan today : 13/10/2016 : Most folks approach the appointment of Steve Bruce yesterday sensibly : that he is an experienced football manager with a good track record, a record that suits the current requirements of AVFC. I am one of those 'most folks', so let us back Steve Bruce in his endeavours. He has not joined Aston Villa to get our Club relegated, he has joined AVFC to get us back to where we belong and with his record, should succeed. If he fails on the field, then it will be right to criticise him, but give the man a chance first. To the minority who castigate Steve Bruce for his previous tenure at Birmingham City ... that stance is both puerile and pathetic, so grow up !
prepare yourselves for **** negative football - he'll get rid of your strikers because he doesn't use them, Junior will be at the centre of your defence and anyone who disagrees will either be farmed out or put on the naughty step - good riddance - you deserve better
29/10/2016 : If Steve Bruce succeeds here at AVFC, there is nothing to prevent him eventually emulating his former boss, Sir Alex Ferguson. Skysports - Aston Villa is my biggest ever job, says Steve Bruce
31/10/2016 : The England Manager job will be hanging over our heads until the FA decide on the permanent successor to Sam Allardyce. The article below claims that Steve Bruce is 'effectively ruled out', but the England job is different to any Club job, so that claim cannot be taken as any form of guarantee that the FA will not offer the job to Steve Bruce. It could be Graham Taylor Mark II, but this time before our Manager has had the chance to get the job here done. Skysports - Steve Bruce still open to England call in the future
Don't mind Sharon, he's an idiot. I'm predicting a trip to Wembley for the play off final for you. Good luck, we'll pass you on the way down
21/11/2016 : Official confirmation of appointment. Aston Villa is delighted to announce the appointment of Colin Calderwood as assistant manager. Calderwood joins Stephen Clemence and Gary Walsh on Steve Bruce’s backroom staff. AVFC - Club statement: Villa announce Calderwood appointment
30/11/2016 : The FA have appointed Gareth Southgate as permanent England Manager on a 4 year contract that expires after Euro 2020. No danger (hopefully) of AVFC losing Steve Bruce to England now. please log in to view this image
is the honeymoon over yet - I see most posters on Villatalk are already pissed off with the **** negative performances - don't say you weren't warned - he really is useless
No, he's not. And your predictions are showing how little you know. Brucey won't take you down to Div 1 as poor Leeds and the Sheffield clubs went through nor the Portsmouth trapdoor much as your fans deserve it after 2009. He WILL get Villa up but it won't be next year either. But my guess is Villa owners won't be willing to be patient. My guess is he'll be gone before next Christmas. And that won't help Villa go anywhere but down
After the week Steve Bruce has had, I'm delighted to see you get the win today. It's looking more and more likely, but hope he gets you up automatically. He was our best manager by a country mile.
Given the state of Aston Villa in the last couple of years and the lack of activity on this board I'd say Larry is good enough reason on his own to merit Villa returning to the top flight. Ploughing a lone field on here for a long time.
