Sunderland midfielder Sebastian Larsson has opened the door to a move to AFC United in Sweden.

AFC United are on the brink of promotion to the Swedish top-flight and have expressed interest in Larsson.

The midfielder is off contract in June and he told Sporbladet: "I've been joking around with dad that now I can round things off with a year at home.

    "Why not?

"We'll see. I hope first and foremost to remain abroad for a few years, but I absolutely close no doors to eventually playing at home if there is a good team."

Getting on in years and just about finished so it would be no surprise if he moved on.

    Been with us 5 years
    Just turned 31
We have had quite a few worse than him
He may still be able to do a job for us as cover.

    No
    Neither are them we have
Or maybe they were bought as next level but looks like we will struggle at this level
So for the moment Larson is no worse than we have ??????

He's out of contract, I don't see the issue. If Sunderland want him they'll offer him a new contract with terms that show they want him, if they don't then you can't blame him for going home to play. It's a nice way to end a career and as a football fan far preferable to going to the middle east or china for a pay day. I like Larsson, there was a time he was the resident scapegoat but i think he's mostly served you well.

I've always thought he was a decent player. Good set pieces, decent passer, hard worker. Would be very happy to see him stay.

The sad thing is he would be playing every game at the moment if he was fit. Dare say we really need him.

You know when a 31 year old Seb Larsson would have improved our team that played on Saturday you're mightily ****ing struggling.

Why? What does he offer in terms of quality? This is the exact reason why we struggle year after year, to improve we'd be needing to sign M'Vila and players of similar quality, instead we have Jack Rodwell...

I didn't say he'd improve us. I said he was a decent player and I'd be happy to see him stay. Personally, I think he's probably the 4th or 5th best midfielder we have on the books currently and I'd be happier to see plenty of others out of the door before him. I'm perfectly aware that we need to sign players to improve us but what's the point in letting half decent players go when they're unlikely to be replaced by better?
