Couldn't believe it when the receptionist said "your room is ready and is 606" ..:.:I actually laughed.
Mrs SR didn't click straight away but then realised why I laughed.

It would have been even funnier if she'd said "it's not 606"!

Tangent - Been to Sunny Beach (on the East coast) twice, once in 2012 and it was a ****hole. I'm talking third world with a McDonalds. Then again in 2014 and it had drastically improved. But was turned into a proper lads-holiday destination so Mancunian and Scouse reps (pricks) surrounding you in the street and trying to drag you into their clubs/restaurants/bars.

Wouldn't go back to Sunny Beach but I'd guess Sofia to be much prettier. Probably very cheap. Sunny Beach was 1 or 2 lev for a shot/pint (approx. 40p:1 lev when I went - just a few years ago).

Just returned from the vets. Our older cat has allergies (no idea what as it's something outside and we think it's seasonal). This is the 3rd vet I've seen and they all say different things :steam:
1st vet - "it's allergies, could be anything, have some antibiotics and some cream for the areas he's chewed. It won't ever go away"
2nd vet - Us in desperation requesting steroid jab and new treatment as he was so bad. "Yes steroid is what he needs and more antibiotics. Possible steroid tablets after that to clear it up." Relief from us and our cat. He is much better in himself and his scabs are getting better slowly.
3rd vet as second vet on hols - Cat back for further antibiotics as advised. "He needs antibiotics and a collar to stop him licking himself as it will heal quicker. He must wear all the time and come back in 10 days to see me".
I have taken off the collar as our cat is back to being happy. His scabs are so bad they will take months to heal and he is no way wearing a collar all that time. He wouldn't be able to clean himself and you know how cats are. I have asked when second vet will be back so I can see her. Vets are as bad as GP's they all have different opinions and it's really hit and miss whether they get the right solution. The trouble is there is no NHS for animals so it costs a fortune to go along with their mistakes. I'm going to stick with the 2nd vet and hope it gets sorted out.

    Rant over.

Sounds like my cat, he has a skin condition/allergies where he licks and bites the inside of his legs. All the hair comes off and red scabs/rashes everywhere. I take him to the vet to get a steroid shot every 6 weeks and the symptoms go right down to where the hair is growing back and scabs are gone within a week, but by about 5 weeks he is back at it again. Our vets (old guy and young guy) have either said he's fine getting the shots and a test to see what is causing the allergy won't help, or, the shots aren't good long term so he needs a test. A shot every 6 weeks isn't cheap mind (£35).

Yes it sounds like the same thing. My cat also bites his legs and nowhere else. We know it's something outside and we think a spring/summer thing so it could be a million different things as we live near fields and trees. I think they would have to do a lot of tests to pin it down. Even in humans they sometimes never figure out the exact allergy. It frustrating when you get different opinions depending on which vet you happen to see. He's 16.5 so if he has to stay on steroids it probably won't be for too many years. The second vet was talking about steroid tablets which they reduce as time goes on depending on how he reacts. The main thing she mentioned was possible diabetes but she has not had that occur with any she has treated. I assume that might be connected to possible weight gain from the steroids.

Our cat is 5 and we too live near fields and trees. Even if they do pinpoint it how can you stop your cat wanting to go outside? During the spring and summer he is out all night every night, then sleeps indoors all day. He is a rescue from Cats Protection and his previous owner didn't want to put up with it.

It's difficult when they are used to going out every day. I thought about keeping ours in but he just paces about and we have another cat who is going out. If we can't get him sorted out I may have to harden my heart and keep him in but hopefully not. None of the vets have told me to keep him in and I did ask. It would be very difficult in the summer with open windows and doors but at least we don't have a cat flap. It's sounds like the steroids will help him, and so far they are working, so I'm hoping it won't come to that.

It doesn't sound like the exact same thing but my Poppy's tummy fur changed to white last year (she's all black so ended up being a black and white cat for a while!) and the previous year she was scratching and biting herself so much that she was bleeding. She's had little nodules on her skin which my vet said was a reaction to something, though like your vets he didn't know what. This year I gave her Yumega drops which is for skin conditions and it's made a world of difference; she still had the nodules but they were a lot less and didn't seem to bother her as much and her fur didn't change colour at all. Yumega is natural stuff so may be worth a try. I get it from Amazon.

Maybe fleas ? This year has been really bad . We have to give our cats ( well 2 of them ) treatment every 3 weeks instead of four, and need to do it more , except it is bad for them . Hope your cat and yours j are ok .

I wish it was as that would be easy to treat. He's on a good flea treatment and he definitely hasn't got any. You're not using Frontline are you? That hasn't worked on a lot of cats for years. We stopped it about 6 years ago as it had stopped working where we are. Apparently it has stopped on a lot of cats. We usually use Advantage which is not prescription and works well.

Thanks I hope we can sort him out.

Thanks I'll order some. I tried Evening Primrose Oil once before but this mixture may be different. I'll try anything! I just hope he doesn't stop taking it like he eventually did with the EPO. I'm getting quite good at being creative though. :)

Poppy is usually very suspicious of anything in her food which she thinks shouldn't be there but she eats it up with the Yumega and I don't even mix it in, just put some drops on the top. I think there are a couple of versions of the Yumega oils - the one in the red packaging is the stuff I've used previously but I'm now trying the one in the white packaging. I'd go for the red one because I know that it worked on Pops.

Think I might be going down with Man Flu <wah>
Off my food (which, as anyone when knows me, is most unlike me) and ache all over. Also when I go to bed I am immediately shivery and freezing, then, within a few minutes I'm giving off enough heat to melt the polar ice caps .....
Have to drag myself off out tonight for uke practice as I've persuaded my sister to come along and I can't leave her to go alone. Then I'm having an early night and may spend tomorrow in bed ...... Got to be better by Thursday!!
