I am pleased to see Pep Guardiola insisting on an apology from the bloodsucking agent of Yaya Toure. His criticism of the manager led to repercusions for the player. I hope the player realises his agent is to blame not the manager. The agents are the people most responsible for what is wrong with football
I have no problem with players having agents. But why this current set-up? Surely the best model is the showbiz one - where the agent gets paid out of his clients earnings. Tried, tested, & working exceptionally well for over a century now. The only people to benefit from the current football setup are the agents. Why is it allowed? FIFA, UEFA et al should get their finger out & get it sorted. Or are they getting kickbacks out of it? Surely FIFA & UEFA would be above suspicion of that, wouldn't they?
WJ. Because (allegedly for any lawyers on the forum) you're quite right on kick backs. Notice the 'non disclosed fee'. Money possibly dispersed between agent, player and seller. Who knows what the club actually gets (allegedly)
Biggest problem with agents is every penny they earn goes out of football. All other transfer money between clubs at least moves about from club to club benefitting someone
Its the money tht vanishes completley too. Undisclosed fee = not telling tax man so vat different to actual. Player may be self employed and have his wages handed to him via an invoice for services. He may get away with payong to PAYE as he tells tax man he only earned £11k as he pays himself a wage and then he pays himself dividends where he only pays 20%. Nothing illegal just tax efficient but the whole thing about oaying a kid half a million per year to play footy in the championship is a joke and money bleeds out of the game or into qrong pockets
