Apart from Boateng who is only on a six month loan who do people feel that we might see depart in the January window and if anyone does who would they like to see come in. I hope that Boateng stays for the remainder of the season as I believe he gives us a Quality defensive M / F that we don't have. I have heard people say that Mansell and Lawrence could be casualties because of fitness issues. Opinions please
I think that besides Liam L and Mansell we may see Mchristal go. I have always liked Mchristal but with Hartley and the Chelsea youngster I cannot see him getting back into the first team. Not sure how long Mildenhalls contract is but would not be surprised to see another keeper come in. UTG
Forgot about Lawrence can't see him staying much longer I think DC will keep hold of Mansell. Hope we keep McChrystal I'm still not sure about Hartley.
Out of the names already mentioned... I think McChrystal will stay until the summer. He may go out on loan but I cant see him leaving until the end of the season. I think Lawrence should go. Waste of wages. I think we may see Mansell move into coaching with us come the end of the season. He is a good character to keep around. I think Boateng wont come back. He will want to be playing more games for sure. If we try to extend his loan in Jan but another club shows interest, I think he will go to them instead. If Roos continues to make errors, I wouldnt be surprised if DC cuts his loan short and brings in another replacement. Puddy may be another casualty. He may want to leave and I dont blame him. Unless something drastic happens between now and Jan, I think that will be it, unless other loans get called back of course.
CJS I agree with your comments above but at the present time Roos is the best Keeper we have. I certainly have more confidence in him than I do in Mildenhall. Roos is a young lad in keeper standards and I believe he can only get better. Yes I can see Puddy moving on as the only time he was considered was when Mildenhall was injured and there was no one else and even in the pre season friendlies he didn't play in the high profile games which rather suggests that DC doesn't have much faith in him Be it Roos or A N Other I really believe than a permanent signing of a G / K should become a priority
Puddy has had injury issues now for ages. He went out on loan and returned early due to injury. Mildenhall isnt getting any younger and wont ever be DC's 1st choice keeper, especially at this level, although he had the man of the match performance at Chelsea!!! With the above in mind and the fact that they both are injured too with no known date for return for either of them, I think really we should let them both go. Unless Mildenhall stays for a coaching role or gets involved in media work at the club as he previously stated he wants to go into the media side of the game. Therefore we dont have our own real 1st choice or a back up keeper. Of course we got Roos on loan but im fed up of having keepers on loan. Since the start of the 2010/11 season (thats 6 full seasons and this season so far), we have had 16 keepers who has played at least 1 competitive game for us. Mikkel Andersen Luke Daniels Conrad Logan Mike Green Scott Bevan Connor Gough Lance Cronin Michael Poke Neil Etheridge Sam Walker Steve Mildenhall Will Puddy Fabien Spiess Lee Nicholls Aaron Chapman Kelle Roos Also Matt Macey and Keiran Preston too but neither actually played a game for us. Thats way too many keepers. We need 2 keepers who are permanent signings. Unfortunately I cant see this happening until next summer. So its either stick with sick note Puddy and unfit Mildenhall (who hasnt played a single game since Chelsea who is also nearing 40 years old) to be back up to mistake prone Roos... OR Bring in another keeper on loan to replace Roos sending him back to Derby and use Puddy/Mildenhall as cover and hope the new loan is better than Roos... OR Bring in another keeper on loan to challenge Roos and basically forgetting all about Puddy/Mildenhall. That will mean 7 loans and you can only have 5 in the 18 match day squad. It will be very difficult to stay in the hunt for a top 6 place with the current keeping situation, thats for sure.
Bring in another GK to challenge Roos and get shot of Mildy and Puddy. Its strange how Roos was a big hit at Wimbledon some Gasheads like to pick on certain players. He made a big contribution to their promotion . Maybe its to do with the fact that he's having the defence changed in front of him all the time like someone has already mentioned. And who's to say DC could send Roos back and get another GK on loan and he could urn out to be worse then what we've got.
Spoke to Mansell last night and said good to see him fit again and his response was iv'e been fit for the last three months, and asked Luke James if he was playing and he no asked if he was on the bench and he said no and just held out his hands and shrugged. I get the feeling that he will probably leave in Jan even if DC wants him to stay because he is not playing in matches
Wish I knew the answer to that CJS Lee Mansell has never sold the team short with the effort he puts in and after watching Luke James against Swansea and yes I do know it was only a friendly it confirmed to me that he was a quality player, I believe the loan deal was season long with a view to making it permanent not much chance of that happening I think
Lee Mansell should be on the bench so that in the latter part of the game he can break up the attacking phases. IMO Mansell has been one of the key players over the last two years. If it was a toss up between Ollie Clarke and Lee Mansell my choice would be Mansell every time. But DC is the manager and Mansell has been out a long time. With advancing years DC did say at the beginning of the season he would probably be limited in game time, same as McCrystal and Lawrence.
Derby have loaned Alefe Santos to a National League club. He's another one who's never fulfilled his potential. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37935781
Think Santos thought the grass was greener somewhere else, think if he had stayed with DC he would either have become a good player or faded into obscurity
I read that 'Young Goose' has returned although strictly still registered with The 'U's until January , will be interesting to see what happens with him next year.
