Milner - £30m, Fellaini - £28m, Lallana £25m. Hell I think Tom Carroll left Spurs this summer for £10m. Leon at the peak of his powers was/still is better than all of these. There is nobody in the PL past, nor present imo that comes close to Leon's ability etc. For me, the best English player of the last 20 years not to be capped.
Leon was never wanted by anyone at all so your estimate is about £38m over the top... Come on now lets get real here....
Put it this way, Joe Allen is currently worth at least £25m on his form the last 6 months. As good as he is, and yes he's the closest I've seen to Leon, Leon was another level above at his peak. But if you think he'd be worth only 2-3million, well I'll just
He is not worth hardly anything now...maybe £50k to someone in div 1 or 2 or even non league......At is very best valley nobody came in for him. He suited our style and our style only and im glad he was with us. but to think he was worth £40m when not a single club wanted him is barmey.....As far as Joe is concerned Liverpool wanted him and gave us £15m for him and he is an international who was in demand after the Euro's.....Who wants Leon ? I love the guy and he was right for us and he will always be a legend but as far as being wanted by any of the big clubs or getting an international call up then there were far better midfielders to choose from and was never concidered by anyone.....Im glad he was not wanted as he was needed by us in his prime because of our style of football we were playing....
Leon is 34 now. We've been debating what a 24 year old Leon would be worth in today's market. As for being worth only £50,000 now, he's priceless for us and is still our best player.
But I have to say this why we're where we are right now because the majority of the squad are not better than a 34 year old , a damming indictment on how poor Jenkins/Board have conducted themselves over these past 3 years
Majority? I'd argue other than Gylfi, Leon is better than everyone else and on his day, he's on par with Gylfi too. I still find it beyond criminal that we didn't sign Joe in the summer and if we pick Fer and Ki in midfield tomorrow and Joe play like he has been, he'll tear us apart. The majority of us could see what was going to happen with the continued penny pinching transfer policy - and its biting us on the arse big time now.
There was a poll of Premier League managers 4 or so years ago about which midfielder they would want on their team and Britton finisged third on the managers wish list .

A guy in work with me who's a steward at the Club as well, said he's heard there's going to be a protest on Sunday for the Trust, form of the team and Guido's sacking. Anyone heard anything? I've not heard from anywhere else.
Guidolin has an interview at Inter Milan ....He won't be there ..lol. Good luck to Guidolin , hope he gets the job .
Leon has been a good servant to the club but what would have happened if somebody did come in for him in his prime. He would be like all the rest and gone like a shot......It tells a story that nobody would take a chance on him and that must get under his skin but the fact is there were far better midfielders to choose from out there and his size was a big factor why teams would rather look else where.......A legend for us only because he was forced to remain loyal to have a well paid job and no other top team wanted him.....As for our best player then i can only laugh at that comment as it dont say much about our other midfielders who are selected ahead of him in the majority of games these past 3 seasons....
Can I have a toot when Dai's finished with it. I need something to take my mind of the inadequacies within the club!!
