He did so badly that he was Manager of the Year three times out of six or seven years!. Everton were a club in disarray and hugely in debt when he took over and he not only kept them in the Prem but qualified for Europe twice. He got the ManU job on the back of that.

He was there 11 years and was never universally popular. He did win three LMA manager's awards. Its also not true to say that he didn't spend money- he broke Everton's transfer record at least 4 times. Crucially, he never won a trophy. I'd say it was arguable that he got the Man Utd job on performances alone- I'd wager that a large part of it was sentimentality on Alex Ferguson's part, wanting to see someone with a similar background to him take his place. He struggled in the Man Utd job and that seems to have broken him. Think you guys need to go down, find a decent manager and sort your **** out and then come back soon as possible. Never liked Moyes, even at Everton, he plays a sort of anti-football, very dull and very boring. I know he is blaming injuries but it cant just be down to that alone.
With the parachute payments the relegated teams have promotion skewed in their favour normally. But your owner seems more of a greedy twaat than Ashley. I think a lot of your problems lie at his door. He obviously wants out but cant find a buyer, similar to the Randy Lerner situation at Villa. And look where they are!!
I did not say he did not spend, but he and Bill Kenwright transformed Everton with the cash from the reluctant Rooney sale that was done to accelerate the direction they wanted to go. If NUFC had not entered a bidding war with ManU at the time then Rooney would possibly have gone for a lot less but the Rooney money was invested in two or more players. I am not saying Moyes is a Messiah but only that given a decent hand he knows how to play the game. Right now people are choosing to lay everything at his door without looking at player performance.
I know you didn't say he didn't spend- I was just highlighting one of the other myths about him that are bandied about. As for player performance, it his job to improve their performance. It his job to motivate them. Its his job to set them up tactically. Its his job to change things when they aren't working. Its his job to pick them up after a defeat. He's not doing any of those things. At Everton he was an average manager at a solid Premier League side who over-reached himself a couple of times. At Man Utd he was out of his depth. At La Real he had the chance to redeem himself. Here, he's like a catflap in a submarine.
Whats everybodys take on NDong now? Looks half decent to me and at an age where he will keep improving into what will probably be a good player but to pay 13.6m for a defensive minded midfielder when we couldnt hit a barn door is pretty shocking in my opinion when you look at our current squad? We have been in desperate need for a central midfielder that can create and chip in with about 10 goals a season for years!
I like him. He looks pretty raw sometimes but give him a year or so and he could develop into a very good player. Without him I think our midfield would be pretty awful. He gives us energy. I worry that he may have been signed to make us forget about Yann though.
I like him aswell but for that fee we need a player to come and make a big impact, abit like Payet did for West ham last season. A club like us cant afford to pay cash like that for the future.
True. Just something else that club haven't got quite right. I suppose we just have to hope he makes an impact sooner rather than later.
To put it into perspective West ham paid 10m for Payet. Im only saying him cause hes the first example that popped into my head. We already had Catts, Kirchoff, Rodwell and McNair to sit infront of the defence so why the feck did we need to break our transfer record on another player to do that job?
This is what I mean about signing him as a sort of methadone to wean us off Yann. Maybe it was a cheaper deal overall, when you factor wages etc in, than it was to stump up for M'Vila and we still get a (fairly) dynamic French(ish) midfielder... if you see what I'm getting at
He is a half decent player in a struggling team during his first season. Khazri is the attacking midfield we should be looking to for midfield support but he is all over the place at the minute.
