For a decade (1995-2005)I was an Apple devotee, when it was really just about computers. Always one step behind the latest model which made it affordable and still felt better than using mainstream stuff. It taught me much about customising and tweaking computers, it also introduced me to the wonder of Linux.

Now it just doesn't have the allure, the 'puter line and other products seems beautiful but maybe lack the alternative and superior appeal they once had for me. Mind you if Microsoft keep on with the annoying (and just plain wrong) adverts for the Surface Tablet thingy I might revert to Macboy mode again.

I think the thing that really turned me against them was the appalling operating system with its illogical quirks. When I was at Canterbury doing a degree, I'd be in the geography department, where they had Mac Performas, and almost every student was bewildered. In the end I'd take pity on them and show them what to do, and I ended up spending a huge amount of time with them, because the technicians were always busy. The students would look at me with a mixture of gratitude and horror at what I'd had to do to get the bleeding thing to actually do something logical. More than once I'd look back and say, yeah, I know. It's pathetic isn't it. Several of those students went on to have better degrees than me, so thanks Apple for that. Thankfully, most of the university had PCs. I'd bugger off to them and get my work done in a fraction of the time. Which was all I had left anyway.
I actually do have an Apple Mac from 2004/5 and I occasionally fire it up. It's absolute ****, of course. ;)

Yeah, bit sad. Just imagine if there was an option for None Of The Above.. ?

I did learn one major thing from Hugo. Hillary has two 'L's in her name. Not just the one. ;)

Can I just say that for the past week I haven't been able to get a few songs out of head. Every time I stop thinking about something one of them pop into my head. But instead of it being really annoying it has been absolutely wonderful. They have all been by my favourite band of all time, my beloved XTC. And all from them from Nonsvch and Apple Venus albums when their compositions were so mature and complete. Occasionally I'll even play them properly on record and they sound even better. It's like re-discovering genius.

Ah, you should have waited in Rome. We could have seen you on a city internet camera and photographed you. The triumph of technology! ;)

Still, for all their ****ness and Samsung's excellence, it is simply scandalous for a corporation to not test or develop an electronic type product properly and put it in the market risking lives.

Rome is only bloody expensive if you eat in the wrong places.

Pantheon is amazing, although you'd have thought after all that wonderful design and building they'd have finished the roof.

I thought there was similar when I went to Rome with the wife, but apparently not when I asked her in the morning if the earth had moved.

These are said to be aftershocks from the last earthquake a while ago that killed 300. Apparently can go on for months.

I love Rome, though not been there since 1982!!! Always said the next time I go there would be my honeymoon. Mrs No7 and I, despite being together over 100 years (engaged for 15...), now grandparents, have not yet tied the knot. Let's not rush into things i suppose....got to make sure it's right :)

Maybe I'll get to Rome sometime in the next 20 years :)
