Nonsense. Last season Hobbs sat on the bench until the CB opening came up. It only came up because Rosenior got injured and the midfield were ****e. That is why Chester played in those other positions, not just to accomodate Hobbs.
Pearsons no fool. He'll play whoever he thinks is better and by no means is Hobbs better than either Ayala or Chester.
Daniel Ayala ---- 34 first team appearances. Jack Hobbs ---- 140 first team appearances. James Chester ---- 48 first team appearances.
No, he sat on the bench for exactly 86 minutes of the first game after he was loaned to us. When he came on he did not replace a CB he played as a third CB. A move that caused so much confusion we nearly blew the game in the last few minutes. He then continued for a number of games to play in a 3 man central defence.
You posted: I think we need an experienced centre-half, but whilst he isn't exactly 'mature', I think playing with him will benefit Hobbs. I am pointing out of the three CBs, Ayala is the least experienced.
disagree...Derby away. came on for 10 mins and had a blinder when our 1 - 0 lead looked like on the rocks
Yes, he played in this game as a tactical sub because NP thought we needed an extra big man in the box to counter their aerial threat, he said so after the game and as Mussy says, it worked. He never played in a back 3 after that, unless you mean when he played at the back of the midfield, but as I've said this is because Harper and Evans were such a rubbish partnership. I maintain, NP never once 'forced' Chester out of the team to accomodate Hobbs.
I said that I think we need an experienced centre-half, but whilst Ayala ISN'T such a centre-half, having him play alongside Hobbs will be beneficial.
Sorry, from your post I thought you were saying we needed an experienced CH and whilst he (Ayala) wasn't mature, he was experienced.
Wrong again, he played as the third CB against Forest (away) Norwich (home) and Cardiff (home). Away at Cov he came on for Dawson. Frome the Watford away game onwards James Chester was shunted into a defensive midfield role. I never said he forced him out of the team either, but he certainly forced him out of position which was necessary due to Roseniors injury, and changed the structure of a good defence to accommodate Hobbs, which was not necessary.
Wrong again. The Norwich, Cardiff and Forest games were all where he played in midfield, just like the Watford game you mention. We haven't played a back 3 or 5 in years.(Unless you're counting the last 10 minutes of that Derby game). If they were playing as a back 3 then there would be no problem as that is Chester's best position. Chester played RB and midfield to cover for injuries and **** midfielders. It only strengthens the argument that NP knows how to manage 3 good centre backs and will not be forcing Chester out of the team and halting his development just to accomodate Ayala or Hobbs. It is a good thing to have 3 quality centre backs, they are all totally capable and they will all increase in value over time.
Ok, you obviously aren't going to admit you are wrong (despite your original post being disproved) so there is little point in continuing the discussion.
Ayala has something the others don't and that he's an elegant defender. I reckon he'll do extremely well for Hull. He's also from what I heard a down to earth lad too.
OK mate let's just continuously insist that one another are wrong without any factual basis behind saying so You're right, NP is ****e and there's no way he could possibly accomodate 3 CBs in the same squad. We should stick with no cover for CB at all like last night or else we will definitely see Chester turning into a winger and ending up playing for Winterton at best.
