I attended expecting to see BCFC doing everything possible to progress.

    A weak side was fielded.

Well that's on you and your assumptions. Nobody let alone LJ said he would be putting out his strongest side. He put out a side that he thought would do the job and in the process try to rest players who he thought needed it with the rest of the season to come.

And who says it was a weak side anyway. Smith, O'Neil, Matthews, Freeman all had recent injuries, Patterson was cup tied and apparently Magnusson had an ankle knock as well.

If by some strange biblical feat I get to pick the team Abraham, O'Neill, Magnusson and Tomlin start Saturday.

If I wanted BCFC to progress to the quarter finals, If I want to pack the gate ditto doing everything possible to progress. The answer to the question posed by the opening poster was answered by the team selection.

And I'm sure they will if they are all fit but we are talking about Tuesday. Two of the players had knocks, Tomlin maybe could have started but to be honest he looked like a world beater coming on against a tiring team, he may not have had the same impact as a starter and finally when do suggest giving our kid who only recently turned 19 a rest, seeing he has played a lot of football over the last year?

City got them on the back foot when chasing the game at 2-0 and Abraham and Tomlin came on. weird one. why bring them on at all if he did not want to win the game? Looks like he was hoping it would go alright.

Exactly he wanted to win the game so he must have a picked a side he thought capable of doing that, whilst trying to the rest some players. It didn't work out (mainly due to poor defending rather than any problems with the actual side picked) hence resulting to bringing them both on.

disagree defending was down to side picked and tactics as City defensively are not a poor team till last night. Citys most creative player and top scorer did not start and hoping is not going for it. When they came on it was a different game altogether a case of too late .

You're right the team he picked wasn't good enough to win the game because we lost it however the title of this thread is 'was the intention to win?' and the answer has to be yes because if it wasn't he wouldn't have bought on Tomlin and Tammy at all. He tried to win the game without a couple of his better players to give them a well earned rest and I applaud him for that.

    Was the 'intention to win'.
To listen pre match the answer was yes.
To see the set up - then obviously not.

The obvious 'intention' - Just trick an extra few thousand suckers to pay hard earned money.

Felt like that. no need to make 9 changes and that set up left 5.7 Joe v a 6.2 defender money on??? well they scored.

    Bollocks.
I've read on here that the weakened side lost the two goals. But from what I've read Taylor Moore had a great game yet he was the only addition apart from RoD in the back four. So by reading all the petulant remarks it must be his fault.
There was only one player to make his home debut and that was a player some was crying out to see.

O'Neill has not played in any of the league cup games. Smith has only had 90 minutes and was shattered after Saturday's game. Abraham only started in the first league cup game. Tomlin I believe only played as a sub in the games.

It's not rocket science, it was stated after Saturday's game that there was going to be changes. The game was half price and it was everyone's choice if they wanted to go to it.

**** sake I'm losing the job I love, so there are more important things to worry/argue about than losing 2-1 to Hull who have been turning us over the past 10 years. Me I'm more optimistic over the fact we've got a squad of players rather than a starting 11 like it's been for the past few years.

2-0 down against most prem sides is an almost impossible hill to climb ..Ok consolation goal and not really a realistic time to get another although it was a close and maybe the last ditch effort would have seen a different response .... !
were we conned? ... cajoled into thinking we would be going all out to win
bad team selection? ... think there would have been a different result had we started as we finished .. and subbed later on Tam and Tom ......
Are we negative? no .. extremely disappointed how the table was laid out
Worried about injuries? .... No because they played anyway
    sat 1650 ...the acid test

actually a nice sunset at the mo from my house over AG! RED SKY UUUUUM hope no one has set fire to it ...................:emoticon-0157-sun: :emoticon-0116-evilg

Anybody who saw the game on Tuesday and states that the intention wasn't there to win the game is quite frankly an idiot. You don't throw your best two players on or throw everything forward like we did if were happy to lose the game, bearing in mind that if we did equalise we would then have 30 more mins of a game that we didn't want to win. It's totally laughable to think we were happy with a defeat

Sorry about your job but any defence losing two goals at corners has not had a great game. first goal bloke didn't appear to need to jump to score second player is totally unmarked. defence had a mare as Hulls big headers were left free to run into the box and jump Flint Moore and Pack were not marking players. Hull marked up.. not right that from City. why not man mark like normal?

Agree with johngalleyfan2 that if City really wanted to win that game nine changes is not the way to go about it. disappointing because Hull with a stronger team were there for the taking. night. City should be in the quarter finals with City still in with a real chance of playing Arsenal Liverpool and Man U it was there waiting to happen.

Sorry to hear that mate - hope you find another soon. I was made redundant in 2003 so I can appreciate what you are going through. What business are you in?

ROD there is nothing concrete in this day and age, and I hope you quickly cement relations with another company soon .. I got made redundant at least 5 times .. the first was 1981 after 15 years at a time when unemployment was 3million and rising .. my problem was I was one of 400 who had just the one skill, mortgage when rates were 15% and 2 kids not yet teenagers ... that was my worst scenario ... afterwards I treated each redundancy with humour .... and just got on with it.
wish you well with the immediate future ......
