Did you forget Liverpool? Morgan is allegedly a fan too. But really? Liverpool never pay stupid money for anyone who played for Saints. It's written into their transfer policy.
Amusing, but rather sad. How many of us thought it a stupid move at the time? How did the conversation go? Les: Here you go, young Morgan me laddo. A contract worth £40,000 a week. MS: Yes, but 'ere I 'ave one for £160,000 Les: Well, yes. But you'd be a Southampton player MS: When I could play for Manchester? Les: (out of desperation) You do know it rains in Manchester? MS: I 'ave an umbrella. Thank you, Les. Could you call me a cab? Les: Call you a cab? I'll call you worse than that, my son (Les is led out by men in white coats)
Really? I wouldn't even want him on a free transfer and no wages, unless we could teach him how to play football without using his elbows. Oh, and he's have to have his hair cut, too.
Careful ladies. More talk like that and we will begin to think that you have been misleading us into thinking that you know a decent player when you see one. Please do not destroy the respect we have for you by talking this kind of nonsense. I know that we are not only a football academy but also a highly successful finishing school for footballers but with Fellaini there just aren't the rudiments there that are essential to make a really good footballer.
Can't help but chuckle at MS tbh, couldn't wait to leave, had a meltdown, told to wait until we were ready and now quickly ruining his short career by making a money over playing move. Sir Les's ribs must be hurting through all the laughter. Come on,how many times do some Saints players think it's greener on the other side but reality bites and it ain't,the list goes on,MS won't be the last that's for sure. How long is it going to be when the wheels come off the Mane popularity train?
I did start off by basically saying I wouldn't touch him with a barge-pole but after having the perfection of Graziano's hair to gaze at for two seasons I really draw the line at Fellaini's!
There is a perception amongst supporters that Fellaini is a bad player. I don't know why. Yes, he's awkward, annoying, and seems to have more than his fair share of elbows, but he has been excellent in the past. Problem is, he's a player of a certain type, and his type doesn't precisely fit the ManU way. In fact, it seems that many players don't fit the ManU way. So yeah, let's look down on a player who was excellent for Everton. If that seems like I'd want Fellaini at Southampton, it isn't meant to. Then again there are many extremely good players who I'd not want at Southampton.
Some people here say players that have left have been awful, but have they really. It takes some of out players a little time to settle at times. Lallana - started shaky but really important player for Pool for a couple of years. Clyne - playing well, not a failure. Lambert - was likely to leave as he wouldn't play often, as was v cheap. Louvren - playing well again. Puncheon - playing well. And now I'm bored so if someone else can be arsed you get the picture...
I agree... Lallana & Lovren struggled at first but are now both key players now they've got a proper manager (who'd have thought ) In a weird way considering the way they all played here and expectations (so excluding Rickie & Chambers) Morgan has probably been the worst - for a want of a better phrase.... Who on here honestly would have predicted that? Funny old game...
Although disappointed I felt a little bit smug when he went to United as I'd been telling my (non Saints supporting) mates since the league 1 days that one day he'd be one of the best midfielders in Europe playing for one of the top clubs too. So far I only got the latter right (if you can class it as playing) but there's still time for the former. How old is he now? 26?
I'm not sure how zero months of Morgan suits us better than five months of Morgan? So what if he then joins someone else in the summer - I'd expect him to do that anyway. If it ended up giving us another body (and a quality body at that) to help deal with, potentially, a EL run, an FA cup, and a charge for a top 8 finish, then I'd say that five months of Morgan could be excellent for us.
