My Uncle owns the house right alongside the Casement memorial at Banna Strand and he was put to death just a couple of miles from where I grew up. I also had a few dealings professionally with the lady who did the handwriting analysis of the black diaries so his story has always been pretty prominent around our family in one way or another.

A really interesting character. Certainly flawed but an honourable man and a genuine hero.... You know he asked Carson to represent him? Who'd know better how to get off with using the Germans to bring rifles to Ireland to use against Britain than Edward Carson?....

But I just loved every one of that Cork team from the late nineties through to about 2006. A special place for Donal Og though as he showed loads of bottle in taking on the county board, the GAA and the world. I still wear the keeper jersey regularly while out training. A ****ing legend.
