Thanks again Kitch. I threw my toys out the pram with the insurance company after several phone calls to me from the jag approved repairer, the insurance company and the insurance company approved repair shop.... they've now agreed to let me have it repaired at the jag place and waiver the hassle of getting other estimates.

Those houses weren't put up yesterday, so presumably letters have been delivered up till now. However I have never seen houses like that without a path....perhaps time the council laid one for the old folk.

I shouldn't think the council would be allowed to go over such a dangerous piece of grass. Perhaps if they were equipped with grappling hooks and were provided with suitable training.......

Typical. A traditional business falls into the trap again. They won't deliver the residents personal mail - a service paid for by a stamp. Yet they will deliver the residents junk mail - a contract service for companies like themselves. The conclusion is that ordinary people are not important to Royal Mail. I could sort of understand that of certain businesses, but this is the Royal Mail. It exists to serve the people. Do they not think these things through or something. Either equip the postman with suitable footwear or pay for new paths to be laid to make the journey safe. Either way, serve your customers, Royal Mail.

Jeez. Why is this sort of thing as plain as day to ordinary people yet unfathomable to companies.? You know what, it wouldn't surprise me if they dismissed the complaining postie on a technicality, purely as the cheapest option, and everything went back to normal.

Mum reckons yes when I was 9. Everyone I speak to raves about it. Mrs Jasper went with one of her sisters 3 years ago, we are staying in the same hotel.

    Random question...

Does anyone know whether or not my bank/building society is obliged to give me all of my money if I was to walk in branch and close my account?

Should be. Can't you just transfer it all to another one and then close it?

Depends if you are a millionaire or not. If you want it in cash, I'm sure there are limits as they may not have everything available. Same if there was a run on the bank. For a small amount, I can't see a problem.

You can do what you like as long as you don't owe them anything.

Also depends on how old you are. Banks are getting a bit wary of elderly people being coerced. They are in a difficult position....legally you can do what you like and it seems wrong that they query it if you are old (as if you must be doo-lally), but there are so many fraudsters and scams out there now. My friend's father has lost most of his money this way.

If you're deeply annoyed with them for some reason, don't close it - remove all but a quid.

There's not a great deal in there it's just that I've lost my card and I know they won't give me more than 500 without it and I need more than that.

Transferring is out as I have a card reader so can't get on my online banking without it <doh>

    Cheers for the replies <ok>

Perhaps Leihberr knows something and we should all make a run on our banks.<yikes> I'm worried when a Leihberr wants to realise their assets. :)

They haven't annoyed me yet but if they refuse to give me what I'm asking for then I will just ask to close it and take the lot!
