He has chosen not to live in Hull but continually goes on about how good Hull is? Make him a moderator....
My surname is equally uncommon, in Hull and everywhere else for that matter. (Don't tell anyone but "renegadetiger" isn't my real name).
Yes but you are from Hull and chosen to remain in Hull. Some people aren't from Hull but have chosen to move to and live in Hull. The latter would be a good advert for what an attractive place Hull is to live. Here is a bloke who has travelled all over but who has now chosen to live in Withernsea. Withernsea! I know that for intellectual and other reasons he has chosen to live in the East Riding where some fine people live, but of all places to choose, Withernsea. Doesn't send out much of a message about the attractiveness of Hull. You can bet sure any other city wouldn't have ended up with the person representing them living nearly 20 miles away. I wonder if Geraghty will lecture him on the unfairness of people coming into Hull and using its facilities? Awaiting his first interview with Gwillam and the first question of is he a red and white or a black and white.
Damn, rumbled. On the other thing... I reckon he might have to come and live here or he's in for a ****load of commuting next year... anyway, it's a minor point (putting aside the question of why anyone would voluntarily live in Withernsea), I wish him luck. It's a great opportunity.
Yes, but they haven't the intellect, charm or presentational skills of somebody from the East Riding.
The job is reporting on events in Hull and the East Riding during the City of Culture year and was open to anyone local. There were 194 candidates, I'm sure plenty of them lived in Hull.
The question is why they couldn't find someone who was born in or lives in Hull from a population of a quarter million who was better qualified than someone from a large village to represent the city.
Nowt to do with Hull though. It is a shorter distance from Sunderland to Newcastle or from Leeds to Bradford. ess between Derby and Nottingham. You can bet those places wouldn't have someone from just up the road to represent them. Or Portsmouth and Southampton who are only 5 miles further apart.
