Thoughtful post from someone who actually understands the issue being discussed...I'm not sure that's allowed on here at all is it? ;)
That's a real shame that you can't be open at City, hopefully there'll be a time that you feel able to (I'm not saying you should feel the need to bring that time forward, but it would be nice to think discussing wives/husbands/partners would be just normal amongst all fans regardless of sexuality)
Work must be challenging. I can understand the stance you've taken, but again it's a shame youve had to decide one way or another

As you say some clear parallels with a football club

On arrival in Sydney almost 50 years ago we stayed with my cousin who ultimately had 4 kids. Her husband was a terrible homophobe.
Subsequently the eldest male child aged 20 left to live in London where he 'came out' and did not return to Aus until his dad was dying of cancer. After he died his youngest daughter told her mum she too was gay.

We have had gay friends for almost the whole time we have lived in Aus. Wonderful people.

I agree, as seems to be the case more often than not, itd be the media who'd **** things up more than anyone else, yes there will still be Neanderthals in every crowd (some more than others, yes west ham I mean you) who will shout stupid things, but I have faith this would be isolated and swiftly acted upon.

They will be your friends because they are good people and not because they are gay, just as folk you don't particularly like might or might not be gay, not knowing makes no difference, or it shouldn't.

I blame the media. Can't see anyone 'coming out' in this climate .

What's wrong with Judge Rinder ?
The fact that someone thinks its clever to call someone a dipshit on a football message board probably tells you all you need to know about the issues that remain around people who have lost the argument.

And I didn't know he was gay and openly camp ( and I couldn't care less to be honest) until lambretteman let the cat out of the bag.
I wrote Judge Rinder in response to lambrettemans post because IMO he acts as judge and jury on everything and Judge Rinder was the only well known judge that I have heard of. I had no idea he was gay. I don't see what his sexuality has got to do with it anyhow. As I put, so what ?

I've heard the name, but knew nothing about his sexuality until your reply.

He seems to have some talents that cause people to watch his show, and is gay.

Why do you pick his sexuality as the primary issue, and then seemingly get offended at what you feel is being likened to it?

I saw his sexuality as the primary issue, due to the topic of this thread.

    I'm not offended.

''he's camper then Larry Graydon'' tut tut tut..............very Bernard Manning.
I did not have a clue who he was having never watched the programme until you let the cat out of the bag. It was information I had no wish to know.

That clip's the first time I've seen the programme, and I didn't watch it all. I know a bloke whose mannerisms ane speach are far more camp than his, but is straight.

Shows the danger of leaping to assumptions.

I've never watched the programme either, I mainly know him because it was a big celebrity news story when he married his husband, as the service was conducted by Benedict Cumerbatch.

Me not having much interest in 'celebrity' gossip could explain why I missed it.

It's possibly the sort of circus the footballers would rather not be a part of.
