I thought the 2nd class Referee did all right.

Watching the highlights they certainly should have had a pen.

    Never mind.

Could watch that goal all day.

They already cashed that decision in for the league game.

Olomola is very short isn't he. I'd say he's shorter than Harry Reed. Was funny watching the long balls up to him vs Kone. Showed some nice touches though

Wow. That was a hell of a goal. Boufal continues to look a pretty special player.

Stonewall penalty not given for Sunderland. Hey ho.

Do Arsenal usually sell out for League Cup games?

59,865 seats were sold for the Reading game last night. Not many unsold.

Also FWIW, the AFC ticketing policy on that game was a tenner for adults, a fiver for all concessions.

Thought so. They're pretty good on that stuff. I'm sure they got something like 30,000 plus for a Youth FA Cup game a few seasons ago. Presumably with a similar pricing policy.

Clear foul in my opinion, I think Mayas studs stuck in the turf but it was still a foul, I think the Referee was unsighted, no other reason not to give it, perhaps the tumble was a bit theatrical?

Did Sam Mac have an embargo on overlapping? Several opportunities to do so, but each time he stopped and we went in to sideways backwards mode.

We need to be a bit relaxed about tonight. Lots of changes and young players. Thought we were good until JRod went off and then it was tough with no leading the line up front. Good experience for Stephens Olomola. 90 mins for Boufal. Good rest for some who needed it. Sam looked knackered towards the end. Maya Harry Pierre were all solid and I thought Stephens was OK 1st half but was too far away to judge 2nd.

Loved that little cameo at the end when Soph, Red and Mac were running rings round the Sunderland defence in the corner to see the time out.

Tough for the ref as it was really an off the ball incident as the pass had not reached him before he hit the deck.
Likely the ref didn't see the contact.

Feel slightly sorry for Isgrove as he is a winger and we've seen how long it's taken more senior players to adapt to the formation, but he has been here a long time and has got nowhere close to producing for saints what he has managed in the lower leagues.

Ward-Prowse was too conservative. Plenty of attacks petered out because we didn't have any midfield runs go beyond the front three and stretch the play out

It would appear that the Sunderland chariot home has not made it in to Hurn through fog, diverted to Gatwick, Southampton Airport had ok weather but of course closed a 22:00! Not their night it would seem.

Just got home. Crap game but superb goal right in front of the Family Stand. Have a horrible feeling my girls are now hooked for life.

If we could keep possession like that for 90, we'd basically be Barcelona.

Yes, I was in the Chapel facing down the Kingsland touchline. Had a fantastic view of the goal. Some nice touches earlier from him as well. If I have any concerns at all, it's that he was clearly signalling to come off after the goal and yet he didn't seem to be in too much trouble later. Surely the manager makes the decisions regarding when a player is subbed and I don't like seeing a player asking to come off without a real medical necessity.

It'll likely be a mixture for us with strength on the bench. Puel rotates as a matter of course and so far it's been serving us well because he does it sensibly and with logic behind who he moves in and out.

We'll be desperate to win that Everton game though...
