No, I don't. People are free to be as bigoted as much as they please. I'm also allowed to criticise them for their bigotry. It's not anti-freedom of speech to call someone a ignorant **** for being homophobic, in fact the opposite. Freedom of speech works both ways.

 

There are plenty of examples in this country that suggest it doesn't But that will take is into territory which will see the thread locked.

I had a mate, an ex-Scottish pro-footballer; quite young, early thirties. Point is he was seriously anti-gay everything and vocal about it. He reckoned homophobia was rife at his club. He once told me he would tather die than be gay and if his son was gay he would kill him. We fell out, he was objectionable just piss poor when looked at properly. I'm surprised so many say they'd be easy with it, sadly.

 

I wasn't referring to the freedom of speech laws in this country, I was referring to my own beliefs of freedom of speech since you decided to make an assumption that I'm in favour of certain behaviours being restricted based on the fact I'm an anarchist.

 

I didn't say you were in favour of certain behaviours because you were an anarchist. I said you were an anarchist who believed the behaviours of others should be restricted. There is a difference.

As has probably already been said no one has to come out and annouce they're gay. whilst we have the belief that people have to 'out' themselves because they're gay, then being gay will always be seen as something out of the ordinary. And it isn't or at least shouldn't be like that.

If a gay footballer however can't lead a normal life, like going out for drinks with his partner, having his boyfriend or husband accompany him to charity events/end of season do's then there's a problem. No one should have to hide their life.

Also, someone mentioned the problem of homophobia in football. The problem with that is we don't really know as we don't know of any currently playing gay footballers. Might seem an odd thing to say, but if there was a gay footballer currently playing then at least we can gauge the reaction. See then if there is a problem and how big it is.

As it stands, there's no issue with gay footballers as there aren't any UK based players who are gay.

So the issues people see are to do with the whole of society, not just the world of football.

 

So homophobes should be able to kill gays if they feel like?
