OK(ish), but he was well out of position, in the 88th minute that lead to a Spurs player being wide open! Had the lad controlled the ball better, we'd have gone to Extra Time! There simply was no need for him to be that far up the pitch at the time, he's game management needs to be A LOT better!
Not having it with Moreno... just because he wasn't punished for one of his customary errors doesn't mean he had a decent game. Was constantly out of position (including right at the death), crossing was poor, corners... who lets him take corners? He's an attacking fullback who doesn't add much to attack apart from pace, and as a defender he has no major attribute apart from pace. Every crossing position he gets into he tries to drill the ball in. Every corner too. Spurs were awful and could have equalised because of Moreno being on the halfway line when Lamela played that cross-field ball into the box right at the end.
He was only part of the problem there though. As I wrote just after the game, Clyne had gone on a bloody ridiculous forward run that he shouldn't be making at this stage of the game when we're holding on to a one goal lead. We lose the ball, Lucas is pulled into the RFB position, Klavan is where Lucas should be, and Nofucker is on the left because Moreno is still on the half way line. Luckily the lad Harrison couldn't make anything of it. We really have to lose this cavalier attitude late on in a game where we're not comfortably ahead.
I was pretty baked again last night and I spent most of the first half chatting **** with my mate (which led to us naming 48/50 of the US states, not bad I thought considering we missed out Montana and Vermont). Anyway, can't comment on the first half but the 2nd half was quite good, we had a few chances but Spurs seemed quite open. I though Grujic looked good on the ball, had good vision and was quite impressed with Al Arnold, he could be our next local superstar.
I guess the manager has to hold his hand up there. I thought Moreno was ok most of the time, but that might be because he didn't make a calamitous cock-up like I was expecting. He did try to give away a penalty at one point and was way out of position for the chance mentioned above, but that's about par for him.
corners were awful yes but i couldn't blame him for that. i'm not sure why he wasn't last man like a full back ought to be but perhaps that was just as well In the end it boils down to his. he did ok right up until he tried to stamp tackle and then pulled down lamela. that was ridiculous and frankly the ref who was bloody picky and annoying for both sides all night waved it off cos he knew full well lamela dived for the firs tone. That ref had decided it'd need a decapitation for another pen to be given. second call was stonewall not given.. first one was a clear dive and yellow. lucas was nibbling but anywhere else on the park lamela doesn't fall like that. he literally jumped and threw himself down looking right at ref as he did so. Moreno... brainless as per. spurs didn't punish him cos both kids on his wing were pretty average. i'd not give more than a solid 6... just one moment of sillyness.
yeah his reading of game was also good. lots of intercepts. In fairness to Stewart he did likewise It must be difficult to just train and then have to do a game like that for 90mins. u23s just can't replicate it... and it wasn't even a really high intense game but spurs did press high up excellently.
Giving Moreno 8 out of 10 should put you in jail. I don't think 1 of his corners beat the first man, he wasnt anywhere to be seen when they had someone free late late on and he nearly gave away a penalty. 4/10 would be kind.
