I think it's probably a bit of both, but I've no way of knowing unless some of them do come out and explain what was holding them back.

Personally I couldn't give a monkeys, who people happen to fancy is of no consequence to me. But obviously a small portion still do.

The gay players will get more annoying attention from the media than they'll get from fans.

 

Do these people refuse to watch TV and films as well, they're bit hard to watch without seeing a gay person.

Bang on the money Dutch - as someone further up the thread says, the first one to come out will be ''gay professional footballer'' ...... for someone in a team sport to be constantly singled out (and they would be) would be no good for team morale.
