I think that is the reason. Why do you think they don't? Is it because they don't think other players will have an issue with butbsome fans might shout things from yards away?

Gay Talese (what sort of parent calls a son Gay even 80 odd years ago). Never held him back. Great career and a mention in a Pete Townshend song.

You said there was no active openly gay footballer and I was just pointing out there was.

Doesn't matter how it happened, the fact is an openly gay male footballer.

He actually said "There isn't a single known gay footballer playing in England. "

Robby isnt playing in England. Might even argue that he isnt playing in the MLS the dude is terrible.

I think it's probably a bit of both, but I've no way of knowing unless some of them do come out and explain what was holding them back.

Personally I couldn't give a monkeys, who people happen to fancy is of no consequence to me. But obviously a small portion still do.

Mind, this 8% not attending matches is fine by me.

'I think the fact that no active professional footballer feels able to admit he's gay is disappointing and shouldn't be case.'

That's the quote I responding to, not the one you've mentioned.

Robert Hampton Rogers III to give him his full name. I think if that had been common knowledge he would have got more stick at places like Millwall if he had come out as gay here.

I think he was simply continuing on with the previous thought but yes I see where you are coming from.

The gay players will get more annoying attention from the media than they'll get from fans.

Do these people refuse to watch TV and films as well, they're bit hard to watch without seeing a gay person.

Isn't it racist to claim black lads are violent rather than say that they'd discuss the logic?

Bang on the money Dutch - as someone further up the thread says, the first one to come out will be ''gay professional footballer'' ...... for someone in a team sport to be constantly singled out (and they would be) would be no good for team morale.
