Kone is the correct answer. They actually have a half decent side on paper, I was actually having a look at Sunderland quite recently and it surprised me that this is their 10th consecutive season in the top flight and you look at the steps forward they have made in that time and there are basically none. They seem to struggle every year despite being a lot bigger than many of the other teams in the league. Look at how us, Swansea and Stoke have done in comparison and kicked on to really establish themselves in the PL, all of whom were promoted later than Sunderland. It seems their board is just stuck in some kind of groundhog day scenario every season.
A half empty Stadium and the Northam fans dispersed all over the place, won't be a good place to create any atmosphere.
Absolutely. Massive win win for club, supporters, players & club image. Just got down from Essex. Thankfully no M25 delays today & at this time COYR
I know why. It's because they insist on playing Lee Cattermole. No team can ever succeed if they field Lee Cattermole.
My mate keeps saying there is something wrong at the heart of the club. They get 47000 on a regular diet of 5 or 6 wins a year. He says it's all down to good recruitment of players and a good academy. The last good player they produced was Henderson, about a decade ago. There are about half a dozen of their players that we would like. Even when they get good ones they are gone next season. Sounds familiar, but they get stuck with the dross. We are dross less!
They are in a big footballing area...they keep going to watch Sunderland because their alternative is Newcastle...they'd rather gouge their eyes out (as would Newcastle fans offered a trip to Sunderland). I have a Newcastle supporting friend....she won't go near Sunderland if she can help it and it is only a good spit away. It's a point of principle to stick with their club.
Yeah when I was looking through it isn't a lack of investment just piss poor signings in the main. Their academy hasn't produced much of note (could be changing with Pickford and Gooch, and to a much lesser extent Watmore who I don't understand the love for). They also haven't had much stability manager wise, it seems to just be fire manager in Feb/March when looking like getting relegated, new guy comes in, saves them, brings in a load of players over the summer, gets fired in Feb/March when looking like getting relegated, new guy comes in etc etc. The fans must be ****ing fuming over the whole Allardyce thing aswell, he really could've helped to move them into the next mini league in the Prem.
I have a 500 mile round trip and no work tomorrow. 2 excuses, I'm on holiday in Italy and I'm very, very old according to my grandson.
I'd be amazed to see VVD and Oriol anywhere near the squad tonight, they are far too precious to us and have been playing full League and EL matches...
Oh have we given up on the north/south banter and gone back to the footy? Any definite info on the team or is it first 11 with their boots on?
The real north. Bits of the north I did not know existed until quite recently. There are bits of Scotland which are south of me. I mean, come on.
Now a sporran would be a good place to keep a season ticket....solve Godders problems. And wearing a kilt would mean fewer chances for those little accidents.
Really quite excited about this tonight. Can't wait to see the line ups. Making my first ever visit to yhe Chapel too!
