Could be the case plus losing Suarez who he also seemed quite friendly with. Why would he look happy and celebrate with the cup team though when he doesn't with the first team?
Poch says TAA should have been sent off for his tackle Man up it was a yellow card and no worse than Diers on Gini in 2nd half which got no yellow at all! Irony at same point saying ref should give ref he then says that Liverpool shouldn't complain about the penalty because it's the refs job to be the authority and give decisions. So refs job job to give the pen but your job to give the cards eh poch?
Maybe just relief. Who knows. I don't think he's not happy when scores in Prem. He just has diff personality from some others. I have no problems with him and that he sometimes looks sulky, that's just who he is. He doesn't have that warming personality from afar that others like Suarez and Klopp have. Everyone's different and I'm sure personally he's a lovely bloke and a good laugh. He's obviously not happy not being first choice and he can prob throw his record at lfc at anyone who questions him, quickest to 50 goals I think? Prob one of best natural striker in Prem and best English one currently, he's just unlucky that his weaknesses are Klopp a strength in his teams.
luckily I read scribble and know what you meant I always look at players body language and reactions when they play, I initially thought he had a problem with Klopp but now think it could be with other squad players, either way it's no good and is hard to change/come back from.
Graeme Souness can see why Sturridge is not in the Liverpool starting XI despite having technique that is 'as good as anybody' http://www.skysports.com/football/liverpool-vs-tottenham/report/367472
I can see Klopp selling him. Not least because of all of the unwanted attention. I hope all of this doesn't feed studges ego and make him a nightmare to manage. He doesn't do enough work for Klopp to be in the first team. Period. His stats are way below the starting 3. Fantastic finisher though, one of the best and personally wouldn't want to sell him to a rival like Arsenal. Would prefer to see him bust a gut and play in the first team. Am not sure it's in him though.
On Sturridge’s goals and performance… That’s his talent, that’s his strength. He’s a finisher, he’s a really good striker, there’s no doubt about this. I was never in doubt about this, even when he didn’t score. That’s not in question. We don’t have to discuss the quality. Divock Origi didn’t score tonight but he played quite well. Danny Ings didn’t score when he came in but he played really well. Daniel scored wonderful goals for us, really important. In the right moments, he and other players could have scored, and then it would have been perfect. It was really good. On the contributions of the young players… I know them better and longer than you maybe and I’m not really impressed [and] that’s the good thing! I thought before the game it could work with them in the team. And of course, everything that would not have worked tonight is my responsibility, you can blame me – I made the line-up. Everything that was positive is absolutely for the players, because it was a difficult challenge with 11 changes. But we had the idea before the game of what we could do. One or two players, the medical department said there was a problem here and a problem there. Again, I heard the word ‘problem’ a little bit too much and thought ‘Come on, make the whole change’ and it was really good to see. It was not perfect but on a perfect day, everybody can show. You need to come back in the game when you have difficult moments, like the yellow card for Trent. He is far away from being a hard challenger or something like this, he had to stay in the game with a lot of challenges on the wing and do it smart. That’s a really good sign. Ovie did a brilliant job and worked so hard. He had cramps too, like Trent. Marko Grujic, the No.10 is not his perfect position. I always say the No.10 is not an offensive position, you run for the team and he had to run a lot. They did well, I’m happy about this and now we are in the next round. On what the performance level said about the squad after 11 changes… I don’t know what it says exactly, but it’s something good and that was clear. I made the line-up then I saw it on paper and thought, ‘Oh, still really good!’ so of course we’re happy about the players we have. There are a few more to come, a little bit younger than the guys who made their debuts tonight – in U23s, U18s and even U15 already. There are good boys and that’s good news for Liverpool. We can talk about it, but after tonight we should not talk about it too much because they [will go] back in the Academy, train hard and come again when there is a game when we need them. That’s how it is. We have a few of them with us every day and that’s good, it helps them. All the others are in the Academy and when they are ready, they can make the next step. On whether Origi had cramp that forced him to be substituted… Yes [it was cramp], unfortunately. He was in a good moment but then cramp. That’s the problem when you don’t have rhythm, which he obviously doesn’t have, things like this happen. It was quite intense. We wasted energy. A lot of moments this season, the young boys wasted energy - they felt so good in this moment that they ran and created, but then they have to score. Unfortunately we didn’t, so that means it’s only a waste of energy – a good sign, but it can cause you cramps and that’s what we had. On Kevin Stewart’s performance… He was good, very good. He is very important. I’ve said it a few times, he is the best challenger in the squad. An outstanding challenger – one on one situations, he is really ugly to play against. He is a good footballer as well. A good player and a good game. On what he said to Origi when he came off… It was quite positive [what I said to him]. There is no discussion about the quality of Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi or Danny Ings, it’s only the situation and you cannot play with four strikers. If you have an idea how we can do this plus defending, then come to me and tell me! But it’s all good – [Divock has] big potential, is a good player and Belgium is obviously a lucky country with this big number of strikers. http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/fir...in-young-debutants-and-lfc-s-striking-options
Like others I can see him being sold. It is worth noting though that we can't keep sticking the same first 11 in every week - especially if we get into Europe which looks likely. We will need to rotate, especially if we get injuries, and I think as an option he's rather good. A run of games would be useful to him.
Liverpool favourites for EFL Cup Liverpool are favourites to win the EFL Cup after they knocked out Spurs to reach the quarter-finals. http://www.sportinglife.com/footbal...odds-liverpool-favourites-after-beating-spurs
1. origi played right side and saw it as an opportunity. 2. sturridge scores 2 goals. One of these had his name sung constantly and one didnt. In the end the crowd speaks doesnt it.
Thought Spurs were pretty awful. Really flat. Only Lamela really threatened near the end. Don't think they were too bothered about this one. Have to credit Sturridge for a professional display. Probably could've had 3-4 on form. Origi played well... good minutes for TAA etc. Decent night for all really apart from Moreno, who was awful again.
I wonder if Spurs are going to make the same mistake they made last year, thinking they are going to win the league. Last year was easier, more difficult this year.
last year spurs basically threw the europa league to chase the title. They still overplayed kane and others cos they simply didn't have the cover that a city would have had. Chelsea imploded cos costa was never fit and they had no reserve its an ongoing story. we imploded cos we sold suarez and relied on sturridge who then never played. spurs needed a striker but we have seen the guy they bought last night and frankly.. he's not up to this right now. IMO to win the title you have to have the players first and foremost but throwing competitions is the easy way out. both of us rested 11 players near enough last night. that sort of proves to me LFC are not ready for europe yet for one. Klopp has a nice season coming but he needs do do a lot of work for future years... but that is the future.
Aside from a loss on their record, all Spurs achieved yesterday is prove to everyone none of their reserves (aside from Vorm) are worth playing
