Going to be a small gate tonight. Not surprised with so many matches, including expensive trips abroad.
I know the tickets are reduced for games such as this but I think when it's clearly going to be a low attendance a big chunk should be given to kids charities or maybe all kids go for a £1. It will fill the stadium up and won't actually cost us anything as it's not going to sell out regardless.
I used to go to matches like this, but I hate travelling from the Island for night matches now...like to be in my jammies early these days. Perhaps I will if we go through and get a home match. There....committed myself now.
Dear Saints; if the club would be so good as to pay for flights from and to Dubai (Business Class would suffice - I do appreciate that travelling First Class would be pushing it) then I would happily attend. Am happy to pay my way to/from the airports if that helps... ...no... ... okay... just a suggestion ...
I have the misfortune to work with someone from Sunderland who is a die-hard fan and I detest as a person. Winning tonight would give me double pleasure! Strike that - triple pleasure!
Got to get kids to Southampton as soon as possible before they are corrupted by one of them fancy dan sides. Imagine the shame of suddenly realising that you have a cuckoo in your nest. I had a ManU fan, but luckily my son is now on the righteous road.
Agree with this... although can't really complain at prices if we did something like 5er for st holders (8 not) and kids for a quid would have sold much better imo.
It is a catch 22 situation with kids and football, I have found that their enjoyment is linked more to atmosphere than the quality of football on display. Of course, they want goals and a win, but that sense of being part of something bigger than yourself is only really fostered when sat (or stood) amongst a lively and engaged crowd. My kids, aged 9 & 7 much prefer being sat in the Northam, or going to away matches, than sitting in the family section. I found that taking them to poorly attended cup matches, unless I have taken them with large groups of friends, has made them less likely to want to come with me at the next opportunity.
