A lot of talk on the interwebs that Liverpool are currently in talks to bring in Ashley Young? Could this be because we're about to get a sizable sum of money from Chelsea's suger daddy? Or is it Torres holding Liverpool to ransom to make more signings? Or could be after 20 years of not signing a good winger that Kenny has finally figured out a position that we really need! Probably the first or second because I don't think it's the 3rd!!! Or is it just a load of codswallop!
I'd hope that we'd have the financial capacity to sign Young without the need to sell Torres! I don't see why Villa would sell though? Where are you getting these rumours from? I hope it happens, we seriously need a proper winger in the squad.
An Aston Villa fan on 606 tonight has said that Liverpool are in talks this evening to sign Ashley Young.
Heard talk we're going to go back in for Ashley Young if Torres goes through, and we're defo interested in the Anelka option (and he's let it be known he's up for coming back). *I think Adam will probably happen but it would be fantastic if we just swooped for somebody that no-one knew about, like we did with Meireles.
I don't think it'd do Houllier any favours with Villa fans if he sold one of his best players to Liverpool. Pinch of salt. Anelka is 31 so doesn't fit FSG's profile. Surely there are others we could make substantial offers for that'd be better investments long-term? I'd rather take ÃÆÃââââ¬à ¡ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã50m off Chelsea than ÃÆÃââââ¬à ¡ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã40m and a player they want to offload as getting too old.
Personally, I think it won't happen in this transfer window because there probably isn't enough time. However, I think there is a good chance of it happening in the summer transfer window.
I would like A. Young for his pace, gives us width, young, English etc. I would also like us to get another winger as sometimes Young can blow hot and cold. Wingers I think we should look at are Marin, Mata, Hazard ( although he may be Arsenal bound), Cazorla ( pretty realistic, not too much, works hard and has flair), Jovetic ( although his injury could drop his price down as teams like Real were looking), Carlos Eduardo ( not sure if he is still with Hoffenheim but was a hot prospect, young), Giuliano ( Internacional 19, another up and comer). There are plenty others and including these that can play a number of roles but these are just some realistic ( cheapish, fits NESV bill) and some where we might need to splash the cash. I Wish Pandaldinho would come over to this Forum as he was the man for up and coming talent, good eye on him.
I assume thats skybet, they also gave odds of 1/10 on ribery joining us a while ago so I don't trust their odds at all! edit: I checked just there and they have Real Madrid as 2nd favourites to sign him, whoever makes their odds should get the sack right now. Whoever actually put money on Real also needs to be put down to remove their obvious idiocy from the gene pool!
The way betting works isn't necessarily how likely the deal/result etc. is, but how much money has been placed on it. If someone comes in and lays down a massive bet on Young joining us, then the odds will go down so the booky won't have to pay out as much if the deal really happens.
emmmm, yes it is? Thats exactly how betting works. How do they come up with initial odds then? Mostly through formulas based on probability and statistics but novelty bets like this one are just based on hearsay and sky always give rubbish odds on them, as i said before, ribery to liverpool 1/10!
It is in most cases, granted, but as I said, 'not necessarily'. Obviously most sports results type bets are based on current form and previous results, but with stuff like transfers, especially this Young one, where neither club has said anything apart from 'he's not for sale', it'll go on how much money has been placed on it. As you said, 'hear say', which is neither true nor false as it stands. They wouldn't keep an odd at 10/1 if thousands of quid a day was been put on in, they'd shorten it. I doubt 1/2 on Young joining Liverpool was the original odd.
