It's pens after thirty minutes of extra time, (if I can read and Wikipedia is correct). It looks like Klipperty will play at least some younger players. I agree with the lineups posted earlier, though Pochettino may have implied it will be Winks in Wanyama's role, which may mean Dier doesn't play. I think and hope an all second choice lineup will play well.

I would agree with this. Maybe keep Lamela out of the squad completely so he can have a proper rest. Possibly Dembele for Dier so that he gets more match time?

I hate games where both sides aren't fully 'going for it' but I am very interested to see GKN, CCV, Josh Onomah and Harry Winks play against stronger opposition than Gillingham. Hopefully, we put out enough of a side to make it a useful exercise and maybe a goal for Vincent Janssen? I'd go for a 4-1-4-1 and try and get Onomah to play the Dele role and get close to Janssen as much as possible and Little Tom to the right of midfield to feed Trippier's running. Davies and GKN on the left should have a good balance.

    Vorm

    Tripper
    CCV
    Wimmer
    Davies

    Dier

    Carroll
    Dembele
    GKN
    Onomah

    Janssen

Could be an argument for spots in the XI for both Dier and Dembele, they've missed a good few games between them, although I want Winks to play, reviving that Dier-Dembele partnership could be key down the line.

I'd replace Dembele with Winks, but I don't think I'd change anything else, to be honest.
It's definitely a big step up for the youth players, though.

Given how Poch has played Dembele as a number ten in the past to press higher up the pitch, I'd go for something like this:
Vorm; Trippier, CCV, Wimmer, Davies; Dier, Winks; Son, Dembele, N'Koudou; Janssen

I'd certainly keep Janssen and Son in the team for Leicester, too.

I'm not expecting us to win tonight, as I agree with what others have said about Liverpool putting out a very strong team.
However, I hope GKN plays 90 mins, has an absolute blinder, and is MOTM.

Maybe then we might see some improved performances from Mr Eriksen and Lamela.

Ooops. You're right. Take out Carroll. Put in Winks.

    I'd have thought so.
He's not been getting results, which isn't that big a problem, but he's been getting some stick for his methods, too.
Five losses on the bounce will have anyone asking questions, bu I believe he's had to field a very young side.
Time will tell how long he's got left in the role, though.

Shows how far we have come when the League Cup is less of a priority for us than Liverpool.

Very pleased that we've got some youngsters in the line up. Might be seen as throwing it away a bit but I think the extra energy could help us.

Can see us getting a bit of a tonking to be honest.
Kind of feels like we've given up on a cup.
I ain't knocking Pochettino but I really want us to win a trophy...it's been a long time.

Very pleased with the line up and excited to see the kids in action. Will be interesting to see how Vince operates with a completely different supporting 3, but then again Pool are surprisingly understrength so you can't draw too many conclusions from the game.

Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Lucas, Klavan, Moreno, Stewart, Wijnaldum, Grujic, Ejaria, Origi, Sturridge

That's not what I was expecting from the Mousers.
