Possibly, but he stuck with Keane despite him having the opposite of a blinder against Bournemouth. You watch him stick with him again against Watford despite us looking infinitely better with a 3-5-2.
£5 million on Marshall was a very poor signing and probably Phelan's worst out of the bunch he made. Jak was playing well and we had adequate cover until McGregor returned. Not saying Marshall's a bad keeper; just a very unnecessary signing.
Agreed, and its not hindsight - i said it at the time. The only reason for signing Marshall was if McGregor wasnt going to play for us again, which of course he might not.
You base that on...?.... and as I recall Jak was given similar glowing reports when he first arrived.
Even if McGregor never played again, like you said is very possible, we could have signed a keeper on loan for the season.
What's that supposed to mean? Kuciak is a terrible keeper, as he demonstrated in his one and only appearance for us. Relying on him as cover for Jak would have been suicidal.
Brilliant. I remember Jakupovic getting a lot of stick after the Sheffield Wednesday game a few years ago. Keepers have bad games and they get scrutinised more than any other position on the pitch. One bad game does not mean he's a terrible keeper. Mason was absolute ****e against Stoke and he cost us £13 million. Nobody's calling for him to never play again.
Probably because he wasn't absolute ****. He's also looked good in other games. Kuciak looked terrible in U21 games, and clearly hasn't impressed in training or we wouldn't have spent 5m on a keeper when we were so bare bones in other spots.
It would be harsh to call Kuciak's performance at Exeter "terrible". But he did t inspire much confidence.
You must have been watching a different game to me. I consider a £13 million played to have a terrible game when he can't make a 10-yard pass to his teammates. Mason has been okay so far but hasn't pulled up any trees.
Maybe I did, I saw a player making just about the only runs to the byline that we experienced until the change in formation, with one in particular an especially good run that sucked in two defenders before getting a great cross across to Keane who was useless. He is pretty lightweight though and I don't like him as our attacking mid to complement Snodgrass, we should be using Henrikssen for that.
I agree with you on that. Perhaps we should have signed a more robust central midfielder instead of Mason to toughen up our midfield, leaving Henriksen to be our more attacking midfielder. Henriksen's our replacement for Diame except the Norwegian actually puts 100% effort when he plays according to the Norwegian fan who posted on here when we signed him.
He didn't seem to do much in his spell against Chelsea I think it was? But he still needs to get up to speed with the league.
Kuciak probably won't play for us again, I expect him to be gone in January. Not only was he slated by fans of his previous club, but we obviously don't think he's good enough either, so his ability (or lack of) is largely irrelevant now.
McGregor came in the members bar on Saturday, along with Alex Bruce, to check out the pie and peas. You'd think the players could get food in the players bar?
