I'm not all that bothered now...either he'll figure away to work at a high level in a Klopp team, accept he's sub if he can't or we'll sell him and buy someone that can. Hey! That goes for pretty much every player in the team....how boring of me lol...
Its all about the way studge thinks, in comparison to firm. If we are pressing firm will chase, thinking he can win the ball and create an opportunity. Studge thinks when we press i want to be in a position to receive the ball and take the opportunity, his entire game centres around being in a position to score goals. There is no doubt he is a great finisher and god forbid but he would flourish else where (if fit) There are not many teams that he wouldnt be 1st choice or push very hard to be the main man. I dont see why he couldn't be utilised in our team, spurs play a very similar way to us and they have Kane up front, he isnt exactly the mot mobile of forwards but, the same as Danny, give him an opportunity and he will score.
Disagree on Kane - he works incredibly hard. But I agree that we can utilise Daniel some way - unfortunately for him, I think that way is off the bench. Having said that, he has performed well in patches. The Hull game in particular is one good example.
I didnt mean, he doesn't work hard, he just doesn't get round the pitch that well, or as well as others should i say. I know the tactics we implement at the minute are working, but if only a select few players can be involved, then recruitment will be a difficulty. It has to be a two way process, the players need to mould to the tactics, but the tactics must also get the best out of the players at your disposal.
Something to defend Sturridge. When he's at his best plays centrally next to someone. It's a bit unfair to ask a players who great under one system and the type of football we play to then ask to roam everywhere and defend also. Surely when we play him then play to his strengths rather ask him to only play one way? He could be our plan B and when Sturridge is on form is probably level with a plan A.
Sturridge can easily fit into Klopp's team. I think something's happened to their relationship. It all changed after Klopp intimated he 'gave in' too easily to injury and wanted more time than he should have to recover. He said something like 'he needs to learn what pain he can play through'. There's no doubt in my mind that Sturridge doesn't play at 100% now - it's as if he's scared he will get injured every time he plays. There's also no doubt in my mind he's one of the best goal scorers in the league - we'd be mad to let him go.
I'm not sure he can. He's not high-octane enough for the high press. I agree that he looks like he's scared to take risks.
He's a very talented player - saying he doesn't fit in is not a criticism of him as such. We don't seem to have a plan B, and would he be content to be that if we did?
