They won't want ET, early start on Sat. Maybe Vegini can knock a 30ydr into the top corner if its heading that way...... <whistle>

We're 9 league games, 3 Europa league games and 1 League Cup game into the season. Each time Claude had made his decisions as he sees fit and he's got it right most of the time. This, despite several outbursts from lots of fans at the announcement of team sheets. It's about time fans started relaxing and letting him get on with it.

I've never been so confident that a manager will get it right.

    ^^^^^This

100% agree - to quote every pundit/journo (not DTLW), how do we keep doing it. Lose our 'best' players and managers, but keep getting it right each time.

    We March On.

I'll admit to being a bit fidgety for the first 2-3 games of the season, but after that I realised we had the real thing. I'm not sure that I've seen Saints play so tactically sharp as they do now. And I mean in my lifetime as a Saints supporter.

Absolutely agreed. I'm somewhat surprisingly chilled with Puel & whatever his decisions are. In my book, he's already achieved the "in Les we trust" status although,
"in Claude we trust" doesn't quite have same ring too it. Maybe just needs repeating a bit more.

Might sound better in French. Everything else does.

And, as a side note, I've never been so confident that a club will get it right.

We have a sustainable way of running the club from the academy up to the boardroom. The club expects people to leave (whether players, managers or staff) and they don't panic when it happens. They have a proven method of moving people into the team from the academy (after a slight stall during Koeman's time). They aren't afraid to tie potential buyers over a barrel.

Perhaps fans should take a leaf from their book and just accept that matters are in hand.

I am not suggesting we thrown the game -
Not sure about Redmond - he could hardly walk after the game on Sunday. Maybe on the bench for the last 20 mins?

I had not thought of it in those terms - good point. Horrid with the ways the fixtures are stacking up - but CP has got a great rotation policy in place and it certainly seems to be working.

I would rest Austin Redmond and romeu. They are too important. Boufal to play 90m.

We beat Palace in the cup this season to beat Sunderland in the cup as well would be taking the piss. I'm going for a 4-0 Saints victory. :1980_boogie_down:

Wish this game would hurry up. It's been hours since our last one.

    Ahem...not having that.

The sponsorless cup will never come close to the Johnstones Paint Trophy in my eyes. And I'm not joking :bandit:.

Charlie Nicholas says 3-0 Saints. I wouldn't argue with that. We should win this. I agree with others who say we should take this seriously. If we want Europe next year then we should be trying to get there wherever we can. We are Southampton, we're not exactly awash with trophies why would we not want to win this one?

Plenty of scope to rotate other than those full back roles where martina and McQueen both need a rest. Hate to say it but we need Yosh to play there tonight. Hopefully Targett is back for left back.
