Takes a lot to make a very average Southampton team look half decent but we managed that with some style. No fight, no spirit, not a lot to look forward to. Enough of Southampton. We were poor!
What stats? 51% Leeds possession, 49% Saints possession? 6 Saints attempts on targer, 4 Leeds? 12 Saints attempts on goal, 6 Leeds? 3 Saints goals, 1 very lucky Leeds goal? They are the stats, from the BBC website.
Get in Saints!! I was worried before kick off, and don't wan't to get carried away but most, if not all Saints players looked comfortable out there. If we can keep that up we will be fine this season! Give the XI who started a well earned rest and give the others a chance vs Torquay, after missing out today and seeing how well the 1st team did the likes of Seaborne, Holmes and Forte will want to impress.
looks like Leeds were ****ing ****e. On paper we're better. In practice we didn't show up. Absolute ****ing waste of time, space and money.
or could it be that we were so good that we made you look rubbish?? it is giving me great pleasure to read the posts from some leeds fans saying that people like snodgrass are worth £8mill
Read stats however u like.... Fact is we scored 2 more goals to Leeds Jammy penalty. Great display by Cork - promising player. However I'm already worried about Martin!!
Just reading back a few that their attack is "unstoppable" and they were gonna score at least 3 past us, I think Leeds fans might get a bit of a reputation of talking s**t!
Ahh found the stats Simon21 must have been looking at we did beat Southampton at something, 22 fouls to us just 14 to Southampton
MarkoLUFC, at last a Leeds fan who was facing the pitch. If your team was as good as your fans they'd have made a better fist of it. Saints played as I have seen them play many times and today gave us hope we can do well in this league. I'm sure Leeds can play better than they did today. But today is our day and we intend to enjoy it.
Talking about Bremner et al - that 70's Leeds team would have been proud of the cynical football played by LUFC today. If Leeds spent more time trying to kick the ball and not the Saints players, then might have got more out of the game. I do feel sorry for their fans - their commitment to trying to lift their team should be commended. But Leeds; the skill and fluidity of play by Saints must have been a constant source of embarressment to the Leeds management team! The stats show that when Leeds got the ball, they actually did little with it; there was no invention in their play - other than how to commit a foul and niot get caught by the ref - and they failed in that department too. For us - it shows we have a squad that can compete in the League - those who wondered if Hammond and Chaplow could compete - should, at the very least, have received some reassurance from this result - not forgetting Martin too; who looked uncomfortable at the start, but grew into the game. Cannot wait for the next game!!
Oh please don't say this win, as awesome as it was, is going to make everyone think we should finish in the playoffs
well played saints you beat leeds with ease and with room to spare....it looks like the discussion on talk sport is right in that leeds will struggle this season and it is very possible that they will go back to league one. they come to the conclusion the team has not had any money spent on it and that is down to bates and his reluctance to spend money. it is going to be a long hard season for grayson and his team....
http://www.not606.com/showthread.ph...hallenge-ENTRY?p=766386&viewfull=1#post766386 I actually predicted Southampton to finish 6th and Leeds 10th to 11th this season, you have a very good looking squad and our problem is a dictator money grabbing ****er named Ken Bates.
I think thats abit unfair on Martin, I thought he looked pretty solid and put in a fairly sound display, though admittedly he is a little rough round the edges, but I think he's got the making of an excellent centre back. I thought we looked good though and every player on the pitch was up to the occasion; 3 great goals, Lallana looked a class above as did Cork and Kelv pulled 2 excellent stops. Not gonna start dreaming just yet, but the Guardian has tipped us for the playoffs - maybe those wall chart waving lefties are on to something... As for the Leeds, I thought they were awful. Lots of hoofed long balls, had no spine to the attack without Becchio and Gradel looked like a petulent little kid waving his arms when he didn't get a decision. I saw them play someone last year on the Football league show and the ripped them apart with some beautiful counter attacking football, but that seemed a million miles away today. They will be fine as they are a good team, but play like that again and they could end up the wrong side of a cricket score.
