I love the Grandmaster Flash and the Furious five stuff from the 70s and 80s.
Del Lane Soul, Dream Warriors, Credit to the nation and Arrested Development. They have made some of my favourite records.
I get why Rap ain't everyones cup of tea though cos I can not stand any type metal or heavy rock.

    Utterly completely agree.

The great thing about growing up in the 70s is that I watched both Top of the Pops and Old Grey Whistle Test and liked them both. There was an awful lot of music to like. I'm not down on recent stuff, but I'm still discovering stuff from the 60s to 80s that I haven't heard yet!

I'm old enough to know that I don't like it at all. I prefer it when you can hear the lyrics.

The Who is tops for me. Local boys (in the early sixties) and I have been seeing them ever since they were the High Numbers at the Bridge Hotel in Greenford

Without Chuck Berry, there would have been no Beatles, Stones or Beach Boys as we know them. All three copied his riffs in their own songs when they weren't doing cover versions of his songs.

Every decent band who followed owe something to at least one of these three bands.

So you've got to say Chuck Berry deserves the title of "greatest".

Chuck Berry : not a band, but an individual.
Unless the originator of this debate spawn is changing it to "greatest artist" ...

Maybe I should qualify this! In my opinion its not just about the group as such, its about the songs and Wellers songs have stood the test of time, songs like The Eton Rifles and Town Called Malice are (unfortunately) still as relevant in terms of message in 2016 as they were in 1979 & 1981 when they were written.

I would also add that popularity is no guarantee of quality, in my opinion there are bands who had very limited success who's music pisses all over many of the artists on this list.

Finally those of us who were teenagers in the 80s are only in our 50s now!

DnB (Drum and Bass) is a huge music genre; 25 years old; heard everywhere these days. Goal replays, Olympics, BBC Bake Off, Honda adverts... Some of the more cheesy stuff it has lyrics...

Hospital Records are one of the better labels around. This track has memories attached...

Drum and bass, mainly heard emanating vomiting out of car sound systems with sixteen bass speakers and nothing else, so the whole thing sounds like an atom bomb farting.

Hugo Lloris on list of Ballon D'Or Candidates.

Honestly. Wow. Well done Hugo. A Spurs player in the candidates. Bloody Hell.

    Sergio Aguero (Manchester City)

    Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Borussia Dortmund)
    Gareth Bale (Real Madrid)
    Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus)
    Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)
    Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)
    Paulo Dybala (Juventus)
    Diego Godin (Atlético Madrid)
    Antoine Griezmann (Atlético Madrid)
    Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli/Juventus)
    Zlatan Ibrahimovic (PSG/Manchester United)
    Andrés Iniesta (Barcelona)
    Koke (Atletico Madrid)
    Toni Kroos (Real Madrid)
    Robert Lewandowski (Bayern)
    Hugo Lloris (Tottenham Hotspur)
    Riyad Mahrez (Leicester City)
    Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona)
    Luka Modric (Real Madrid)
    Thomas Muller (Bayern Munich)

2 goalkeepers, 3 current or former Spurs players and Ronaldo goes down under his Christian name, for some reason.
Might save time if they just narrowed it down to 2 now and announced the winner tomorrow.

Still 10 names to be added apparently.

I thought the list from this morning was all the names, so I was wondering why Aguero and De Bruyne were on it, but no one from Leicester or Kane for that matter. I see Mahrez is on there now, so I expect to see Harry on there too, seeing as he bloody finished top scorer last season!

Wouldn't mind Dele and Toby too for that matter! Of course we all know who it'll boil down to <laugh>
