Off Topic The worst places to live in the UK

Obviously someone has confused Bath with Hartlepool. Bath is one of the cleanest, greenest, most stunning cities in Britain. Obviously a disgruntled Bristol Rovers fan had something to do with that list........

 

But everyone says it's improved since you left...

But Peacehaven? Okay, it's dull as ditchwater but it's not that grim.

I am amazed, nay astounded that the wonderful Jaywick didn't make it on to this list - constantly voted the most deprived area in the country...apparently Bath and Windsor are worse places to live, hmmmmm!

There are, of course, many reasons to like or dislike living in a place. I've live for at least 3 months at a time in countless places and the worst, by far, was Hackney. It was a long time ago (25years), but it's the only place I've lived where I can say there were no redeeming features at all. An acquaintance of mine lives in Windsor and he dislikes it intensely because he finds it such a cold and unfriendly town; I lived in Paris for 2 years and never cared for it for the same reason - it's the only place where I ever felt lonely. Luton is the worst town of any size I've visited and Bedfordshire is the least appealing county.

 

I think its based on a combination of different measures so places like Bournemouth (where I live) are on there because average wages do not reflect the high local property prices where as sunderland are on there because the gene pool is too small and their seats are pink.

 

I'm surprised that Crawley isn't on that list cos this place is a right ****hole. Even the birds fly upside down over it as there's fook all worth ****ting on!

 

How Stanley/ South Moor aren't on there. Inbred central.

 

I had the misfortune to visit Bournemouth a long time ago and immediately thought if you were ever going to give England an Enema Bournemouth is where you would stick the tube

I think this may already have been done - with the other end of the tube directly over Sunderland.

 

I think it's based on randomly sticking a pin on the UK map 50 times - that's the only way to explain the mix of genuinely **** areas (Sunderland, Hull, Corby, Middlesbrough, Hemel Hempstead), absolutely lovely areas (Bath, Edinburgh, Chester, Bristol, Woking), trendy expensive cosmopolitan areas (Hackney, Camden, Brixton), vibrant cities (Birmingham, Leeds, Nottingham, London), places that are nice for a day trip (Whitstable, Windsor) and random cut off places (Airdrie, Portadown, Bognor Regis).

 

I'm surprised York isn't on there. Granted,the city centre is nice enough but the immediately surrounding areas are some of the most grim areas I've ever encountered and I spent a year not a million miles away from Bow in East London!

 

North Shields - A ****hole.

Speaking as a southerner, i.e. South Shields, which is a ****hole as well.
