You sir, have problems. You're team have just been beaten comprehensively and you're just making excuses? Please, just try to think rationally and maybe admit that today Southampton were the better side?
The one in which I felt we were unlucky to lose? It's very easy to get caught up in a big win but between your goals, where I must say you did well and our defending was ****e, we played as well as you from box to box but couldn't break through.
can i re-write this truthfully for you One of the worst leeds 3-1 defeats I've ever seen. We were terrible in the first half and not much better in the second. All 3 goals were well taken and deserved. The referee should have sent Michael Brown of for many fouls and being an ex skate. Lonergan was crap and lucky that chaplows effort, he managed just to push onto the post. Didnt even realise Clayton was playing, also O'Dea looked very poor and put more effort into arguing decisions rather than playing.. However that doesn't take away from Southamton's very good performance, they took their chances when we didn't, Snodgrass didn't look fully fit and Gradel didn't decide to perform until we were 3-0 down. Overall a game I feel we actually were second to every challenge and offered no attacking threat. we were very lucky to get the refereeing decisions for the penalty at the end. Well done Saints but I encourage my fellow Leeds fans to actually think about the game before weighing in with the mindless criticism. i dont think we will finish bottom because peterborough are in this league
Well played saints we Wer awful today, Snoddy unfit gradel frustrating obrien awful, not encouraging for us! We Wer great in the stand but shocking performance odea not a left back!!!
I'm not spsitting my dummy out or anything like that. I don't begrudge you the result as you were very clinical and defended very well, but I am saying I don't feel we deserved to lose 3-1 and we did dominate the 2nd half, we did have to dominate to have any chance and we didn't do anywhere near aswell as we should when we had chances to do something, but I don't feel the win was as comprehensive as many are making out.
simon, we had plenty of possession and territory but we did diddly with it. I can see where you're coming from when they are 3 goals up from 4 shots on target... take the goals out and there wasn't that much in the game. But the fact is they had the goals so they didn't need to throw guys forward, and we couldn't break them down. The right side won and comfortably, but it wasn't a roasting by any means.
Carried on where we left off and got 3 points to give us confidence. Not getting carried away..there will be ups and downs and undoubtedly Leeds were a harder team than most from last season. Saints will have to be fit and sharp at this level, but a win does wonders for confidence. Amazing how many enemies Leeds have..we have a few new friends tonight. Thought there would be a bit of graciousness on here, but obviously mistaken. Admire the Leeds fans at match for carrying on with their support...like to think we're like that as well. Decent crowd taking everything into consideration. poor gate for Tuesday apparently, but perhaps there will be a few walk-ups after today. The Torquay match will give a few other players the chance to get 3 points under their belt. Well done Nicola, Nigel and the lads. COYR
The stats back up what I felt in that I thought we dominated from box to box but Southampton were better when and where it mattered.
Hate to say it about another Leeds supporter but you're a fu**ing clown, I hope you are just taking the piss? Southampton deserved to win by 4-5 today, hit post, twice, was never a penalty outclassed us in every department. Well done to the Southampton team and I just hope this is a wake up call for the team I love.
Are there seriously Leeds supporters who thought they should have even taken a draw from that match. Leeds shouldnt have pulled one back - an incorrect decision as it turns out! The saints looked comfortable on the ball, played some nice passing moves and looked solid at the back. Your keeper had very little to do. Overall The saints were more than value for the 3-0, Leeds lucky not have been embarrased!
We dominated possession and territory but Southampton were far more clinical. The penalty were were given probably shouldn't have been but we also should have had 2 that weren't given. Can't say Southampton didn't deserve to win but it was hardly the thrashing many are making out
Simon mate, your team were rubbish, our team were good, simple as - There will be much better days for Leeds and much worse days for Southampton this season, no doubt about that. Just be a bit more realistic about today's match. Your fans were great today, supported the team right to the end - i'd like to think that we'd do the same if it was the other way around and I look forward the Elland Road fixture, should be a cracker.
Simon21-LUFC after your opinion of the match, a game that we all saw with our own two eyes, I will now have a reserved opinion of just how much you know about football. I just hope for your sake that its just your bias that is clouding your view!
But, as I won't say again, between the goals I don't think we werer that bad. We did barely anything when we had the chance and you did very well, but that doesn't change the fact that I thought we were slightly better from box to box, doesn't mean we were amazing or should have won but we did and the stats reflect that.
For me I don't even think Leeds played that badly, I just think Saints were much better, and much more up for the game. Leeds committed way too many fouls, Brown had a terrible game and was lucky to be on at half time, I didn't see him do anything good, just giving Cork a good kick! Snodgrass didn't perform, I think Harding had him fairly under control, Gradel wasn't much better, I didn't see him put very many crosses in and the ones he did were poor - way past the far post. Also, Gradel committed a lot of fouls as well which slowed Leeds down. I think Saints defended fairly well, the full backs were excellent for me, good in possession and dealt with the wingers well. Martin had a nervy first half hour, but I think had a decent performance overall, had a tendency to kick the ball out rather than try and do something with it though, I think he was unlucky to concede the penalty. I don't think Fonte was at his best, he seemed a little clumsy, and was climbing on Leeds players quite a lot, but won most of his headers. Jack Cork was quality, man of the match for me, always seemed to come away with the ball and made sure it went forward. Adam was great as well, a goal (almost 2) and an assist, showed the class that we have come to expect of him. Guly was okay, provided some hard tackling which IMO we needed to compete with Leeds hard midfield. Lambert seemed marked out of the game, I think Leeds had done their homework on him, but he won a lot of his headers, and did good things with the ball. Connolly was quality as usual, good team choice Nigel Adkins!
I don't know why but beating Leeds always feels better than any other victory. Yes I do , it's revenge for the 7-1 defeat at the hands of Bremner and co in the 70's. Pathetic to hold a grudge that long but it still rankles. Was worried about Martin starting but I thought he did well. The penalty was very hash.
