Claude's press conference after the game. His English is improving really quickly. Good effort from him. Think this is the best I've seen from him. A lot easier to listen to.
Agree with the comment on the subject of a goal scorer - look at the goals conceded by us against Inter and City - both great finishes and on both occasions the oppositions first attempt on goal. Says a lot about how we defend so well but also tells us that you really do need a clinical finisher to make the most of the opportunities the team creates.
2 words everyone seems to have forgotten: Florin Gardos, who was, I believe, bought to be Jose's long-term replacement.
Dean Saunders on Talksport this morning speaking about defensive midfielders - `I really like that guy with the bald head that plays for Southampton - whatshisname, Rodriguez is it ?`. Spare me.
Another condescending "expert" on talkSport! You get far better knowledge and sensible comment from presenters and journalists than ex footballers
I wish he did - only 20 months left! http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/oriol-romeu/profil/spieler/66100 Vin
I would willingly drive a truck full of good things round to Oriel's house in an effort to persuade him to stay. What can we bribe him with, that's worth more than money, and that you can only get in Southampton? There's only so many lardy cakes a man can eat, footballer's especially. Perhaps we can get him hooked on sailing?
First time he has mentioned that players found it hard to finish the game...mentioned McQueen in particular. It has been tough on the lad....played most of 3 consecutive games. All that adrenaline can be exhausting. Massively impressed with him...will be used during this season even when players are back. Puel has always had good English....was impressed with his vocabulary right from the beginning. His problem is talking very softly in a monotone with his head down....and also gives long analytical answers instead of a pithy reply. I rarely listen to what he says....happy to just watch what he does.
It's playing without the ball that's exhausting Fran. Sunday was the least possession we've had in any game this season, which means a lot of running and a lot of concentration.
And that means a lot of adrenaline...that blessed stuff keeps you going but also drains the life out of you. The fight or flight hormone. I think it reaches higher levels in the young....though I have to say McQueen looks calm and mature when he plays.
He does look very cool doesn't he? Where do we keep getting these LBs from? Bridge, Bale, Shaw, Targett, McQueen...we need to start working on some natural right sided players now.
