I'd genuinely like to ask if those who thought it was all Rooney's fault still do? We've hardly improved since he was benched have we?

No, while it's fair to say he should remain on the bench our actual problem is the lump with the afro and the centre of our defence. When Fellaini plays, we're ****e. He did well for an hour against Liverpool in beng a nuisance but how in the name of **** is he a better option than Schweinsteiger, Carrick or Schneiderlin in anyone's world? It's bizarre.

We also need a quality centre half and to start playing actual full backs at full back. Darmian and Shaw should play at full back from now. If Valencia is to play, and he does deserve a place, it should be at right wing.

We need to beat City on Wednesday and concentrate on doing better in the EL.
Sad to say but right now both those comps are the realistic level were at. We won't be winning the league.

Rooney ain't the way forward, Chief. I really don't get why Fellaini is an automatic starter but as for today's performance, surely Smalling is more at fault than Fellaini. Mourinho should let Schwein back in the squad. He doesn't need to start every match but at least gives us a great option.

I agree with you on Shaw, but I think Valencia has been good this season. He has made some great surging runs. But I think you're right that he should play in an advanced role and let Darmian play in his natural role.

I still don't think central defense is our problem (well, besides this awful game). I think we need balance in midfield that we just can't seem to get straight. Jose is trying way too many players. He needs to settle on first 11 that will play week in week out. During the best days, we always knew who would start a match. We didn't have to guess and watch endlessly for the team sheet.

I didn't say Rooney was the way forward, I said that he wasn't the actual problem.

And yes, Smalling was at fault, hence me saying centre half was one of our problems.

Blind isn't a centre half, Rojo isn't good enough, Jones (remember that ****er?!?!) isn't good enough, Smalling can be good enough but sadly has too many off days.

I'd say Fosu Mensah deserves a place if it wasn't for the fact Bailly would be his partner and can hardly be called a senior player.

We should have kept Jonny Evans. Mad eh? Some of the decent players we've ****ed off in the last couple of seasons.

I might have been unfair on Valencia admittedly but I just like my full backs to be actual defenders first and foremost.

Rooney has been a legend at united and deserves respect....When you get hammered 4 - 0 then the fault lays with the manager and all the players and not just one who is made a scape goat......

Agree. Darmian is good defensively but doesn't have the ability to bomb the line and put in a cross, while Valencia is an out and out, very strong, and able right winger - that is what we bought him for. His presence on the right side of the field will provide us with a much needed outlet, someone who can take the ball forward and supply a good cross (which he does for 90% of the time). Will Jose do it - I doubt it.

6 points is a massive margin considering we're only 9 games in <laugh>

Is it ****, I think we were around 17 points behind the league leaders in February at one time, we managed to pull that back.

I would be a little concerned these days if the gap was 6 or 7 points in April with teams like Arsenal and City blocking the way but in October? behave :emoticon-0100-smile

Mourinho's team selections are baffling and at times cowardly.

He's doing himself no favours with team selection at the minute.
