Anyway, my prediction won't make a bit of difference to where we actually finish and we'll see if I was correct next May I guess
Yeah, at this point in the season points total is more meaningful than position, as the latter will fluctuate pretty wildly. Don't get me wrong, our points total is thoroughly solid now as well, but the table itself will be reshuffled pretty drastically on a week-to-week basis for a while yet. Six, as an example, would be a disappointing position for Spurs, but they're a mere point and one goal of differential off the top, so it's hardly dire. Target is about 1.5 points per game to be the best of the rest...we're pretty close to that pace. That's the figure to watch for the time being, IMO.
Fair enough, we're probably arguing about something we have similar opinions on then Also my expect comment also was in respone to saintlyhero who asked if I would be disappointed if we don't finish top 8
Strange after such a traumatic preseason with our manager leaving unexpectedly, but I am very excited about this season. Thrilled with the team and prospects for the rest of the season.
I usually care about the cups about as much as Pochettino, but I wouldn't mind a win this week, we'd probably be the 3rd/4th best team in the last 8 if we do. That's not exactly a certain trophy, but it's a better chance than we've had in a while.
Crazy indeed! Every midweek with a game (if we beat Sunderland). I wonder how far ahead Puel plans his lineups? E.g for Inter I bet he was also thinking about today....
Very much looking forwards to what boufal is like when properly up to speed.he showed a couple of glimpses of what he is about today. He will cause all sorts of problems i think
I can already tell that the league cup priority has slipped another notch, & I'm quite upset by this. One more good draw & we are looking at a very special day out for our progression cabinet. Rotate, but please don't throw the chance away.
Agreed, I know he got caught on the ball but once he's upto speed in the league I think he's going to be some player! Really hope we see him on Sunday.
May seem like a weird thing to say but boufal kinda reminded me of gaston with his touch and running.fingers crossed he turns out better tho
Its the best rotational squad, lots of square pegs going in the relevant holes. Its quite beautiful. We have some quality missing in places, but we know how to do our jobs. Love it.
IF we could keep this squad together this summer, and add 2 or 3 quality players. We could be in a really great position next year.
Thats a great result against a side that should be winning the league by miles. I though Sane was outstanding for them, he was a worry every time he was near the ball. That made McQueens performance even better, he had a really tough role. Silva had an off day, esp in the 1st half which took a lot of pressure off us thankfully. Our spine is fantastic. Tadic, Romeu VVD and Fonte are just brilliant. We came setup to contain and hold with Clasie and Davis, the problem is thats pretty much all the latter two are able to do. They're like little clones of each other, lots of work, hassling the opposition but no vision and struggle to hit the attacking end stand with a shot, never mind the goal. The manager knew what he wanted them to do and we didnt get drubbed so maybe there's no room to criticise. Austin and Redmond have been transformed under our new manager. Both are mobile and fluid. Shame Charlie didnt get a better angle on his shot toward the end, was a great setup by Boufal. We have had a really tough start to the season fixtures wise and we have come out of it looking great. Claude is REALLY managing the side. We havent had a manager who has been able to rotate the side to this degree and set up tactically with this flexibility before. Loving this season so far because I'm feeling that we're only getting started.
Cuco had a good 1st half. He didn't get the room down that side that he's had against other opposition. The boys just couldnt squeeze in the little diamonds down the right to free him up. City are one of the best teams in the world and he may have made a few mistakes but the pass that put Sane free for their equaliser was just outstanding. If we'd scored that goal I wouldn't have been knocking their defence.
