Look at the talent available and united should be attacking teams trying to win 5-4 not 1-0. De gea valencia baily smalling shaw blind herrera pogba martial Ibra rashford With mata and miki available if want to change system slightly and have mata as a 10 behind Ibra (or move martial up top for Ibra and have miki wide right).
I think Valencia is having a late bloom. I've been impressed with him. He's not a defender so shouldn't be playing at RB, but he's still a decent squad player. Blind also IS good enough. Think about the likes of Nicky Butt or John OShea. We need players like that and imo Blind is better than both of them. The problem is, he's being carted all across the back 4, being asked to do different things - forget the positional difference defensively between being a CB and LB, instead think of what he's also being asked to do going forward on the LW when he's playing LB, and how he's being asked to cover centrally when he's playing CB. He must be ****ing unsure of anything! How can he possibly settle under those circumstances?
Anyway, I'm sick of this rigid 4-2-3-1, which always seems to find a place for Fellaini on the starting line up.
Aye it's ridiculous the options we have in midfield. I hate to say it (because I don't like harping back to him) but if Fergie had this many options, he's ****ing walk this league.
Ironic that all those years we complained about not having a proper midfield and we were winning the league and now all these riches.....
Still early for Jose though, Treble. Fergie didn't walk the league in his first four years. I think the squad will come good eventually. At least the crazy fixtures are over for now. We will get momentum going eventually. The squad is too good to not and Jose would have learned from last year.
Aye, I'm happy to give him time. I think he'll come good as well. I'm sure he has his own idea about when to bring in the likes of Mikhi and Schneiderlin. What surprises me is that he didn't buy a RB and another CB or that he hasn't used our first 9 games to focus on building a strong, settled defence. That's his trademark and how he in the past has ALWAYS begun his tenure at any club. Having said that, you look at his start at Inter and Real Madrid (and even Chelsea second time round) he spent his first season not worrying about the results too much.
Jose Mourinho, speaking to BBC Sport: "The team played well, if we can delete the defensive mistakes we made. Thibaut Courtois had more work than De Gea, their defenders had more work than my defenders. They are very dangerous in counter-attack, we knew that. I said if we score at the 2-1 game is different, that was not for us and they scored the third and fourth. "When mistakes are individual it is hard for the manager and the players, they know the mistakes that were made. "Football matches start at 0-0, this match started 1-0. It is like giving Chelsea chance to play how they want. Everything went in their direction."
Amazingly enough, we are still only six points off pace. I hope we don't start putting pressure on Jose as we did with LvG and Moyes. We have no choice but to give him time. Three years at very least. We can't afford to go through changing the whole backroom again. And we need to get over the soundbite of "The United Way". There is no such thing with the amount of changes we have gone through. We simply need some stability and take it from there. I've heard people say stupid stuff like - "he's past it". Like WTF! Jose is not a player. If anything, I think he has more experience now to really take on this challenge. We should give Jose our full backing. I believe this team will come good after this teething period.
