My thoughts on Boufal - needs to keep it simple sometimes but made some lovely little movements today. Also - he tracks back!
I'd play a complete reserve team midweek. The tiredness was very clear today, which makes a point even more valuable.
Would of took a point before kick off, solid performance , few players got found out today though, Davis and martina well under par.
Sums it up for me. Put it all on the line at the end. Could have been more clinical at times. Delighted to see Boufal look tricksy already. Great game for us provided Virgil is ok
Virgil my MOTM. ****ing superb again. Special mention to McQueen though who was very solid against some superb players and kept his head under pressure. Austin very good at holding the ball up, did a very valuable job. Fonte's best performance for ages.
You can't be too harsh on Cuco as he and McQueen both had a torrid time today. They did what they had to and we clung on. Brilliant. VVD, Fonte and Romeu were sublime.
Superb point that, and there's enough to see that Boufal is going to be very useful once he gets fit and used to the game. For me that point was ALL about Claude. Not only was he tactically spot on, the team clearly believe in what he's set out for them and put their hearts, bodies and souls on the line for him to show it. He could be the most important summer signing we've made in a while. I far prefer watching us this season, I must say (and that's nothing to do with red tinted glasses or sour grapes).
Fonte stepped up when he knew his cb partner was struggling. So yeah agree best game from him in some time. Davis needs to be dropped though.
Well we'd all have taken that before the game, and we probably didn't deserve all 3 anyway, but...we could have won that. We're going to beat onee of these big teams away from home. Guess it'll have to be Chelsea and Liverpool.
Sensational performance, all things considered. Really chuffed/proud yet again. Puel has us playing some amazing football. So disciplined and tactically aware.
